Rajarajeswari Temple, Nanganallur, Chennai

Rajarajeswari Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Sakthi located at Nanganallur, a well-known locality in Chennai City in Tamil Nadu. Because of the presence of Raja Rajeswari temple, this place was called Nangai Nallur once and later became Nanganallur. It is said that the main deity here came up from a Homa Kundam. The devotees should go around the temple only in anti-clockwise direction. There are 16 steps to reach the sanctum of this temple and each signifies a special meaning.


This Temple is a private property and pooja items are available at the temple and devotees are requested to buy the pooja articles only from there. Only flowers can be bought from outside. This Temple is situated adjacent to Satyanarayana Temple. Both these temples are connected to each other. Nanganallur is called Mini Kancheepuram because of the presence of many temples.



History

This Rajarajeswari temple is a Private temple of Sri Rajarajeswari Ashram (AVR TRUST) headed by Sri Rajagopala Swamigal. The Temple was built in early 1970’s.

Temple Opening time

The temple remains open from 06.00 AM to 11.00 AM and 05.30 PM to 08.30 PM. The temple is open till Noon on Fridays, Sundays and Pournami.

Festivals

During Navarathri, Brahmotsavam is celebrated on a grand scale.

Prayers

Devotees who worship on Tuesdays will be cured of their illness and those who visit the temple on Fridays will be bestowed with abundant wealth. Worshipping her on the Full Moon day (Pournami) is considered auspicious.
