Ramakrishna Mission
Ramakrishna Mission, Port Blair is a branch of the Ramakrishna Mission. Our endeavour is to spread the life-giving message of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda throughout the Andaman and Nicobar islands.
The centre traces its roots to 1961 when a group of zealous devotees, inspired by the life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda started a society to spread their message in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The nascent centre was further blessed when Srimat Swami Ranganathanandaji Maharaj inaugurated a small shrine here in 1965.
We expanded our scope of activities further in 1986 when Srimat Swami Tapasyanandaji Maharaj inaugurated the Vivekananda Boys Home to serve orphaned or destitute boys and were affiliated as a branch of the Ramakrishna Mission on December 16,1992 (Sri Sarada Devi’s Tithi Puja).
