Ramayana
Maharishi Valmiki’s’ Ramayana ‘This holy book has 24 thousand verses, 500 sub-sections, and 7 kandas.
The Gayatri Mantra is formed from the first letter that comes after every 1000 verses of the Ramayana.
3- Apart from three brothers, Rama also had a sister whose name was Shanta.
4- In the Ramayana, Rama is considered to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lakshmana is considered to be the incarnation of Sheshnag. Both Bharat and Shatrughna are considered to be incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
5- It is told in the Ramayana that Lord Rama fasted on Ekadashi to cross the sea on the way to Lanka to kill Ravana.
6 – There is no description of Sita Swayamvar in the ‘Ramayana’ written by Valmiki. According to the Ramayana, Lord Ram and Lakshman along with sage Vishwamitra reached Mithila, then Vishwamitra himself asked King Janak to show that Shivdhanush to Shri Ram and while offering the conch shell, it broke.
7- At the same time, in the Ramcharitmanas, the swayamvar of Sita is described in detail.
8- Lord Shiva’s bow was used during the Swayamvar, on which all the princes had to pay tribute.
9 – Shriram was about 27 years old when he went to exile.
Rama, Sita and Lakshmana spent their exile in a forest called Dandakaranya, which was spread over 35,600 square miles.
