A brief introduction of the 108 characters of Shri Ramcharitmanas according to the alphabet is given below.
1- Akampan —
He was Ravana’s maternal uncle and his commander. He was killed by Hanumanji in the Lankan war. He had two brothers, Prahastha and Dhumraksh. Father’s name was Sumali and mother’s name was Ketumali. He had two sisters. One was Ravana’s mother Kaikasi and the other was Kumbhinasi.
2- Agastya —
Sage Agastya was the son of Maharishi Mitravarun. His name was earlier Maan. Because of crushing the ego of Vindhyapart, he was named Agastya.
Maharishi Varun ji had gone to Aditya’s Yagya after being invited, there he saw Urvashi and part of the sand that fell in the Kumbh came into existence. That’s why it was named Kumbhj.
After the death of Vrittasur, the demons Kaalkeyadi hid in the sea and started troubling the sages. On the insistence of the gods, he destroyed the demons by drinking the ocean.
King Nahush was cursed and thrown out of Indratva and sent into the serpent’s womb.
His wife’s name was Lopamudra.
Shri Ramji had gone to his ashram during his exile. It was he who gave the mantra to Shri Ramji to go to Panchavati.
3 — Angad —
Vanararaj was the son of Vali. After killing Vali, Lord Rama made Sugriva the king and Angad the crown prince. His mother’s name was Tara.
He went to Ravana’s meeting as a messenger of Shri Ramji. There, after insulting Ravana, he sent his 4 crowns to Shri Ramji and planted his foot in Ravana’s court which no one could remove. Showed bravery in Lanka. One day Indrajit was defeated in the war.
4– Aj–
He was the son of Suryavanshi king Raghu of Ayodhyapuri. Vidarbharaj’s daughter Indumati made him her husband through the Swayamvar tradition. When the defeated kings wanted to snatch Indumati away, they reached Ayodhya after rendering everyone unconscious with the help of hypnosis mantra
Queen Indumati died when Naradji’s veena garland fell on her. Due to her separation, King Aja also gave up his life.
Maharaj Aj was the father of King Dasharatha.
5– Akshaykumar —
The son of Ravana born from the womb of Mandodari, he was younger than Meghnad. He was killed by Hanumanji in Ashoka Vatika.
6- Anjani —
She was the wife of Monkey King Kesari, from her womb Hanuman ji was born.
In her previous birth she was an Apsara named Punjakasthala. Due to the curse, she became a monkey and was living on Mount Sumeru.
7- Atri Rishi —
Manas is the son of Brahma and is counted among the seven sages. Kardam Prajapati’s daughter Anusuya was his wife.
Dattatreya, Maharishi Durvasa and Chandrama are his sons.
He is one of the Prajapatis. He composed Atrisamhita. At the time of Bharat ji’s visit to Chitrakoot, he was present in the meeting of Shri Ram ji.
To keep the water brought by Bharat ji for consecration, he called it a well, named it “Bharatkoop” and glorified the well.
While going from Chitrakoot, Shri Ramji had gone to his ashram. He is first praised in Aranya Kand.
8- Anusooya —
Daughter of Prajapati Kardam, his mother’s name was Prasuti. She was the wife of Maharishi Atri. This is the crown of devotion to husbands.
When Shri Ramji came to his ashram during his exile, he preached the practice of pativrata dharma to Sita ji.
9- Arundhati —
Kardam is the daughter of sage and wife of Vashishtha ji.
10– Ahalya–
She was the wife of Rishi Gautam. Due to her being very beautiful, Indra corrupted her religion by taking the form of Gautam. Gautam Rishi had cursed and turned him into a stone. While going to Janakpur, he was saved by the sweat of Shri Ramji’s feet.
11- Urmila —
She was the daughter of Janak ji and was married to Lakshman ji.
12– Kapil —
He was born to mother Devahuti, son of Kardam. It was he who did it. Sagar’s 60,000 sons were destroyed by a curse.
13– Bandha —
Originated from Kashyap and his wife Danu, was Gandharva in his previous birth. He had laughed at the displeasure of Sthulshira Rishi, hence he had cursed him and turned him into a demon. Had taken the boon of long life from Brahma.
Used to insult Indra. The face had entered the chest due to Indra’s thunderbolt. On request the arms were extended one yojana.
In Dandakavan, Shri Ramji had cut off its arms and saved it. It was Sthulshira who was given the boon of salvation by Shri Ramji.
14– Kashyap —
Manas is the son of Lord Brahma and a great sage. Daksh Prajapati’s 13 daughters were married to him. It is from these that the entire world originated.
15– Kakabhusundi —
Vayas is a great devotee of Shri Ramji. Alamkusadevi’s vehicle was a cock named Chandra and mother Hansini. There were 21 brothers. All of whom died, he became Chiranjeevi.
The residents of Ayodhya were Shudras in their previous birth. He was worshiping Lord Shankar, at that time his Guru came, he did not respect the Guru and hence Lord Shiva cursed him. Shapavas became a snake. By the grace of Lord Shiva and Guru Ji, he became a worshiper of Shri Ram and was born in a Brahmin family. Due to the curse of sage Lomash, Kaak Yoni was attained.
16– Kalnemi —
This uncle of Ravana was a demon. This was very elusive. He was a Gandharva in his previous birth, dancing in the court of Indra. He laughed after seeing Durvasa, then he cursed him, due to which he became a demon.
At the time of Lanka war, when Hanuman ji was going to take Sanjivani after Laxman ji got power, at that time Maya had created a plan to stop Hanuman ji on the way.
It was saved by the hands of Hanumanji. He had disguised himself as a great deceitful sage, when Makri revealed his secret, Hanuman ji wrapped him in his tail and threw him, then he died. He assumed the form of Gandharva and went to his world.
17– Kumbhakaran —
He was a great eater, a giant, younger brother of Ravana. His father was Vishravamuni and his mother was a great person. His wife was Bajjwala, daughter of Bali.
When Brahma ji came to give the boon after performing a difficult penance, after seeing his body, Saraswati ji asked for 6 months of sleep and one day of wakefulness. Was extremely brave. Was killed at the hands of Shri Ramji.
18– Kuber —
Fourth is Lokpal and god of wealth. The capital is Alkapuri. He is Ravana’s step elder brother.
Devvarnini was the daughter of father Vishravamuni and mother Bhardwaj. He is the president of Yaksha caste.
He was named Kuber because he had one eye, three legs and eight teeth.
19– Kush–
He was the eldest son of Shri Ramji. Mother Sita ji gave birth in Valmiki Ashram, where she received her education. He got the kingdom of Kushwati city.
After Shri Ramji went to his supreme abode, Ayodhyaji’s presiding deity Devi went to Kush’s bedroom and after describing the plight of Ayodhyaji, asked him to go to Ayodhyapuri, then he started ruling Ayodhyapuri.
20– Kesaree —
He was a monkey king. Hanuman ji was born from the womb of his wife Anjani.
21–Kaiksi–
She was the mother of Ravana, Kumbhakaran and Vibhishana. His father’s name was Sumali and mother Ketumali lived in the underworld. Seeing Kuber’s Lanka, out of jealousy he entrusted it to sage Vishrava so that a son more powerful than Kuber would be born from it.
22– Kaikeyi —
Kaikeya was a very beautiful and beautiful daughter of the king of the country. Ayodhya was married to King Dasharatha. Bharat was his son. Once, by protecting Dashrath ji in a war, he received two boons. On the instigation of Manthara, he asked for the same boon and asked Shri Ram to exile him for 14 years and give the throne to Bharat ji.
23- Kausalya —
The daughter of Dakshin Kausalraj was the eldest queen of King Dasharatha. She is the mother of Shri Ramji.
When Ravana came to know that he would be killed by the one born from his womb, he abducted the girl Kausalya, locked her in a box and gave her to Raghavmachha.
Brahma ji took the form of Ravana and took the box from Raghavachh and left it in the forest. Which was given to King Dasharatha and Sumantra. Later she got married to Dasharatha ji.
24- Khar —
He was Ravana’s step brother. Ravana had given him 14000 rupees and appointed him in Janasthan for the protection of Shurpanakha. When Lakshman ji cut off the nose and ears of Shurpanakha, he fought with Shri Ram ji and was killed by Shri Ram ji.
25– Ganesh ji —
Son of Shri Mahadev Ji, his mother is Parvati Ji. Due to the influence of Vishnuji’s name and Shri Ramji’s name, they are eligible for Agrapuja.

26- Garuda ji —
You are the son of Kashyap and Vinita and the king of birds. Vishnu is the vehicle of Lord Vishnu. When Meghnad had tied Shri Ram-Lakshman in Nagpass in the battlefield, you freed them on the call of Narad ji. I was infatuated with him, then on the request of Lord Shiva, I listened to the story of Shri Ram from Kakabhusundi ji.
27– Galav —
Vishwamitra’s ultimate disciple was a great sage. Vishwamitra had insisted on taking Gurudakshina, then he had asked for 800 Syamakarna horses as Dakshina. To achieve which one had to endure a lot of trouble. At last he became free from debt by giving Dakshina.
28 — Guh —
Nishadraj was a non-Aryan king of Shrangaverpur. He was friends with Dasharatha ji. Had served Shri Ramji a lot during his exile. Had disease in previous birth. By the grace of Lord Shiva, I became a devotee of Shri Ram.
29– Gautam —
Gautam ji was a sage, his wife’s name was Ahalya. His justice philosophy is famous. He is considered to be the first promoter of Anvikshiki Vidya. In his Nyaya Darshan, he has explained the attainment of liberation through the Tatvgyan of 16 substances like Pramana, Prameha etc. This mirror was consecrated in only 10 days. His son Shadanand was the priest of Janak ji.
30- Jatayu —
Pakshiraj was born from the womb of Sun God’s charioteer Arun and mother Sayeni. His elder brother’s name was Sampati. He was a friend of King Dasharatha. Had stopped Ravana at the time of kidnapping of Sita. Despite being old, he fought with Ravana and finally fell on earth due to Ravana’s weapon attack.
Shri Ramji came with Lakshman ji in search of Sita ji and after seeing her in an injured condition, he took her in his lap. He left his life by keeping his head in the lap of Shri Ramji. He took the form of a four-armed person and went to the supreme abode. Shri Ramji performed his rituals with his own hands.
31– Jamdagni —
Jamdagni ji was the son of Maharishi Richik, his mother’s name was Satyavati. Vishwamitra ji was his maternal uncle. Renuka, the daughter of King Prasenjit (also Renu Rishi) was married to him.
He (Jamadagni ji) was killed by the sons of the thousand-armed Arjuna.
He had five sons. 1- Rumanyavan, 2- Sushen, 3- Vasu, 4- Vishwavasu, 5- Shri Parshuram ji. In which Shri Parshuram ji was the youngest. Shri Parashuram ji is the sixth incarnation of God.
32– Jayant —
Devraj was the son of Indra and Sachi. To test the strength of Shri Ramji, he injured Sita ji by pecking her leg. Shri Ramji had shot a straw arrow, distraught by it, he ran away to Trailokya but no one gave him shelter. Narad ji advised to go to the shelter of Shri Ramji. On coming to the refuge, Shri Ramji had made a glance. Jayant’s wife’s name was Kirti. He also had a fight with Meghnath once. There is also mention of another Jayant who is called Upendra who was a part of Lord Vasudev.
33– Jamwant —
Riksharaj, son of Brahma (he was born from the yawn of Lord Brahma) was the commander of Sugriva, long-lived, powerful and fast-moving. Be ready to serve Shri Ramji. Was the chief advisor in Ramadal.
Incidents of his presence are found in all three yugas – Satyayuga, Treta, Dwapara. Was also with us in search of Sita ji. It was he who asked Angad to be sent to Ravana. His wife’s name was Vyaghri and his daughter Jamvanti (the queen of Shri Krishna, mother of Shamb (who caused the destruction of the Yadu clan).
34–Tadka–
Suketu was the daughter of Yaksha. She was married to Sunda (son of Jambh), the king of Malla and Karush country. Marich and Subahu had two sons. When Sunda was killed by the curse of sage Agastya, it started troubling the sages. The sage cursed this, then she became demonic and started corrupting the yagya of the sages in Tapobhoomi. It had the strength of a thousand elephants.
While going to guard the Yagya of Vishwamitra, he was killed by Shri Ramji.
35– Tara —
Sushen monkey’s daughter was married to monkey king Vali. Angad is his son. There was also a daughter named Subhadra from Bali. These are also in Panch Kanya. They could understand and speak the language of all living beings.
She is also said to be the daughter of Bali’s minister Tar.
36–Trijata–
One who has three matted hair or who rests at the feet of Lord Shri Ram, is skilled, is wise, is called Trijata.
Shri Vibhishanji’s real sister, step-sister, daughter and wife, all of whom were found to be great devotees of Shri Ram ji. She was supposed to live in Ravana’s harem. Among the nine Rakshasa women who were deployed in the service of Sita ji on behalf of Ravana, she was the only one who did not misbehave with the mother, used to console her, even protected her life and was also the head of all of them. After the killing of Ravana, Ayodhya ji also came with Mother Sita ji.
37- Daksh —
Manas was the son of Brahma and got the task of creating people. His son Manu and his daughter gave birth to 16 daughters. Of them, 13 were married to Dharma, 1 to Chandra, 1 to Kashyap and 1 to the most beloved Sati Shankar ji. Sati ji had burnt him with the fire of Yoga in his yagya without Shiva. Details of 60 daughters from his second wife are also found in our Puranas.
38– Shridasarath ji –
His chariot moved in ten directions without any hindrance, that is why he was called Dasharatha.
He was born from Indumati, daughter of Suryavanshi Maharaj Aj and Vidarbha king. He is considered to be the incarnation of Manu or Kashyap ji.
There is also mention of being Dharamdutt and King Kumud in his previous birth. He had three queens, Kausalya, Kaikeyi and Sumitra.
Patranis had four sons, Shri Ram, Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughan. Before him, there was a girl named Shanta, who was given as adoption to his friend Angadeshadhipati Romapada. Rompad had married her to sage Shrangi. (There are many supporting and non-supporting statements on this issue in our archives.)
Ravana had also failed in demanding tax from him (Shri Dasharatha ji).
Once Shravan’s elephant deceived Shabdavedhi by hitting him with an arrow. Hearing the news of Shravan’s death, his blind father had cursed that just as we are dying due to separation from our son, in the same way you will also die in agony.
At the time of Shri Ramji’s departure to the forest due to Kaikeyi asking for a boon, Shri Ramji sacrificed his life in separation.
39– Dilip–
Suryavanshi was the king, his wife’s name was Sudakshina. There is a story about him that once he met Kamdhenu while coming from Swarlok, when he did not pay obeisance to him, getting angry with this, Kamdhenu cursed him not to have a son. Finally told that if you serve my daughter Nandini then you will have a son. Raghu was born after serving Nandini for a long time in Vashishthaji’s ashram.
He was the king of the 39th generation of Surya dynasty whose father’s name was Anshuman and it was his son Maharaj Bhagirath who brought Ganga ji to earth. Even Ravana was afraid of them.
40– Dwivid–
Sugriva’s friend was a monkey youth who lived at Dhaulagiri with more than 1 crore soldiers and participated in the Ravana war. He had the strength of 1000 elephants. Was in the service of Shri Ramji. He was killed by Shri Balram ji in Dwapar. This was revealed by Ashwani Kumar’s excerpt.
41– Dundubhi —
This was a Mahishaak demon. Vali had killed him and thrown him away. On being shown by Sugriva, Shri Ramji destroyed its bones with his left foot.
Bali had thrown his head on Rishyamook mountain, at that time a few drops of blood had fallen in the ashram of Rishi Matang, then the sage had cursed that whoever had thrown it would be burnt to ashes if he came to the mountain.
Due to the fear of this curse, Vali did not go there, hence Sugriva used to reside there along with his ministers
He was the son of Maya and brother of Mayavi.
42– Durmukh —
There was a monkey in Shri Ramji’s army. There was also a commander of Ravana with this name who was the son of Malyavan.
43– Pollution —
He was Ravana’s step-brother and Khar’s real brother. He was Ravana’s commander and lived with Khar. There was an army of 5000 under it. Was killed at the hands of Shri Ram in Dandakavan.
44– Nal Neel —
These were the sons of Vishwakarma and Agnidev respectively. He had built the bridge. In childhood, a sage had cursed that the stones thrown by him in water would not sink.
Both of them had torn Ravana’s skull with their nails. Ravana was already well aware of Nal Neel’s Vastu knowledge, but during the war, both of them did not side with Ravana, Ravana even saved their lives at one time.
45– Narad —
Manas was the son of Brahma. The sons of Daksh Prajapati were separated from the world. Due to which Daksh destroyed them Was Again, on Brahma’s request, Kashyap was given a daughter from whom Narad was born.
It is written in Srimad Bhagwat that he was the son of a maid in his previous birth. His mother used to serve the sages. Since childhood, he used to receive offerings and teachings from sages.
When his mother died of snakebite, he performed penance and left his body on the orders of the sages, after which Brahma had a son named Manas

Vibhishana had a minister.
47– Shri Parshuramji —
Originating from Jamadagni and Renuka, he was the sixth incarnation out of the ten incarnations of Vishnu. King Kartavirya Sahastrarjun once came to Jamdagni’s ashram, saw Kamdhenu there and abducted her.
Parshuram ji went to take Kamdhenu, there he killed Kartavirya in the battle. In retaliation, Kartavirya’s sons beheaded Jamdagni. Then Parshuram ji had made the earth devoid of Kshatriyas 21 times.
At the time of Sita Swayamvar in Janakpur, Lord Vishnu was offered the bow to Shri Ramji. As soon as it was mounted, he praised Shri Ram and went to do penance.
In Dwapar, he taught the bow to Bhishmapitamah and also taught it to Karna, but due to Karna misintroducing himself, he also cursed him.
He is also considered one of the seven Chiranjeevis.
48–Parvati–
Born to father Himalaya and mother Maina, she was married to Lord Shiva. The uniqueness of Lord Shiva is ideal. Ganesh ji and Swami Kartikeya have 2 sons.
49– Hand —
Ravana’s son, commander, advised Ravana to give Sita back to him. Ultimately killed in battle.
50–Pulastya–
Manas, son of Brahma, grandfather of Ravana, is counted among the seven sages.
51– Bali —
This Devraj was born from a monkey born from the tears of Indra and Brahma. Was the king of Kishkindha. It was blessed by Brahma that half of the opponent’s force would come to it in the war. Sugriva’s brother was his brother. He was killed by Shri Ramji for doing injustice to him.
52–Bhardwaj–
Father was Jupiter and mother was Mamta. He had his ashram in Prayagraj. Dushyant’s son Bharat brought him up.
53– Bharat —
Dasharatha’s son, mother’s name was Kaikeyi. Uncle’s name was Yudhajit. His wife was Mandvi. She is the ultimate ideal among the devotees of Shri Ramji.
54– Bhanu Pratap —
Kaikeya was the king of the country near Kashmir. Father was Satyaketu, brother Arimardan and minister Dharmaruchi. Kalketu’s kingdom was usurped, with the idea of revenge, Kalketu treacherously stayed with the king. He added male meat to the food prepared for the Brahmins and appeared in the sky himself.
Out of anger, the Brahmins cursed that everyone along with the people and family would become demons. Due to this curse he was born as Ravana.
55– Bhrigu —
He was born from Brahma and was the adopted son of Lord Shankar. He kicked Vishnuji in the chest to test him.
56– Matang —
There was a sage living on Rishyamook mountain. Shabari lived in his ashram. Shabari had received the teachings of devotion from him only. He cursed Bali.
57– Manu —
Maithuni was the first man of creation, the mental son of Brahma, his wife’s name was Satarupa. Maithuni creation started from them only. Pleased with his penance, Shri Ramji blessed him to incarnate as a son. This Dasharatha became Kausalya. This is a blessed incarnation.
58– Manthara —
The situation of this character in Shri Ram Katha is like that of “trapped in Egypt”. This character, who was adorned with words like “Vak Visharad”, “Mantra Kovida” by the ancient poet Valmiki ji, may have been a maid because of her disfigurement, but her behavior shows that she was adept in politics and diplomacy, she had no influence in mischief. There was no sani.
Manthara earned its name due to its body being crooked at three places and walking slowly –
Namu Manthara Mandmati Cherry Kakei Keri
Actually, there are many stories of his previous birth, observation of which shows that Manthara also incarnated like other characters to become an ally in Shri Ram’s incarnation.
Manthara’s father Brihadashva, known as “Yatojata”, is none other than the brother of Kaikeyi’s father Ashwapati and the original name of Manthara was Rekha.
Thus, due to her being older, Manthara was the elder sister of Kaikeyi and due to her instigation, Kaikeyi asked for two boons, in the first of which she asked for 14 years of exile for Shri Ram and in the second for the coronation of Bharat.
The story of Manthara’s next birth is also found.
59– Mandodari —
The daughter of Mayan demon and Hema, was the queen of Ravana.
Due to Mandodari’s origin being from Manduki and being related to sages named Mandar and Udar, this girl was named Mandodari.
Mandodari was a moralist, devout and devoted to her husband. He forbade Ravana to fight with Lord Shri Ram ji once in Sunderkand and four times in Lanka incident. Along with this he also described the great form of Lord Shri Ram ji, but Ravana avoided him again and again.
Among the characters who convince Ravana, Mandodari is the only character who survived Ravana’s wrath.
In some texts it is mentioned through hints and in some it is clearly mentioned that after the victory of Lanka, on the instructions of Shri Ram Ji, Vibhishana accepted Mandodari as his wife. It is also found somewhere that Mandodari had become Sati after killing Ravana.
Meghnad, Akshaykumar etc. were his sons. Was famous for her devotion to husband. Counting is among the morning remembrances.
Mandodari’s name is also found in legend as the mother of Bali’s son Angad.
60– Mandvi —
King Janak’s brother Kushketu’s daughter was married to Bharat. They had two sons Taksh and Pushkar.
61– March —
Mother Tadka was Rakshasi and father’s name was Sunda Yaksha. While protecting Vishwamitra’s Yagya, Shri Ram had shot an arrow without fur, which had fallen across the ocean.
Again, with the inspiration of Ravana, he became a hypocrite in Panchavati and was killed by Shri Ramji.
62– Meghnad —
Father was Ravana, mother was Mandodari, wife was Sulochana. He was blessed with the boon that after renouncing sleep and women for twelve years, he would be killed only by the hand of one who bears fruits. Was killed by Lakshman ji.
63– Mainavati —
Himavan’s wife was the mother of Parvati.
64–Rambh–
There was a monkey of Ramadal.
65– Raghu —
He was a glorious king of Suryavansh. From his name Suryavansh was later named Raghuvansh. He had defeated Indra. His father was Dilip and son Aaj.
66– Shri Ram Ji —
Shri Ramji is the main hero of Ramcharitmanas. Parabrahma is the incarnation of God.

Forest dwellers embrace people. He gathers together the scattered powers of the people living in the forests and fills them with a sense of self-respect. He himself goes to the neglected Shabari Bhilni “Shramana”.
He kills the arrogant king Bali, who is engrossed in pleasures and indulgences and makes an alliance against the nation by befriending Sugriva, who was exiled by his brother.
Indians destroy the tyrant Ravana who insults the dignity of women by going to his own land and establish a united India.
67– Ravana —
Son of Vishravamuni, grandson of Pulastya Muni. Mother’s name is Kaikasi. Wife is Mandodari. Had received many boons from Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma had written about his death as a man-monkey. Was killed at the hands of Shri Ramji.

1-Vishnuji’s gatekeeper named Jai became Ravana due to the curse of Sanakadi.
2-Lord Shiva’s son became Ravana due to the curse of Narad ji.
3-Jalandhar, his wife Vrinda (Tulsi) cursed Vishnu, due to which Ravana was born.
4-King Pratapbhanu became Ravana due to the curse of Brahmins.
Lanka and Pushpak Vimana were snatched from step brother Kuber. When Nandishwar laughed at him, he cursed him with destruction from the group of monkeys.

Shriramji’s younger brothers, Shesha’s incarnation, were father Dasharatha, mother Sumitra, wife Urmila, sons Angad and Chitraketu. Always remain with Shri Ramji in his service.

73– Lankini —
Bhulok Vashini Rakshasi, the guardian of Lanka, stopped Hanuman ji while he was going in search of Sita ji and then Hanuman ji punched him. Brahma had told him that if he becomes distressed by being killed by a monkey then he will know the destruction of the Nichicharas.
74–Vashishtha–
He was married to Arundhati, the daughter of Rishi Kardam, the Manas son of Brahma. The famous Rishi Parashar, one of the seven sages, the vice-chancellor of Raghukul, was born from the womb of his son Ahashva’s wife.
75– Valmiki —
He was the first poet and had composed Ramayana with divine vision even before Ramavatar. While going to the forest, Shri Ramji had visited his ashram.
He had told Shri Ramji 14 places of residence. After that he was asked to reside in Chitrakoot. When Shri Ramji Ram ji exiled Sita, she stayed in his ashram in Bithoor.
Earlier he was Vyadha, by the grace of Ram devotees and due to the influence of Ram’s name he became a great devotee.
76– Vibhishana —
Ravana’s younger brother, father was Vishrava, mother was Kaikasi, wife was Sarma, daughter of ShaileshuGandharba, daughter was Trijata.
A devotee of Shri Ramji, he became the king of Lanka after the death of Ravana. Are long lived. He is among the sixteen chief devotees of Shri Ramji and is among those who are remembered in the morning.
77–Viradha–
There was a Vidyadhar, who became a demon due to the curse of Durvasa, lived in the south of Chitrakoot, was killed by Shri Ramji.
78– Vishrava —
Ravana was the father of three brothers, Khar, Shurpanakha and Kuber. Son of Pulastya, mother Daksh daughter Prithvi. His wives were Devvarnini, Kaikasi, Rakha and Malini.
79– Vishwamitra — (Kausik, Gadhitanay)
Son of King Gadhi of Puruvansh, he was originated from Charu (Kheer). His sister Satyavati was married to Richik. Richik had made Charu for his wife and her mother. Which was changed by Satyavati on mother’s request, due to which Jamdagni became a Kshatriya and Vishwamitra became a Brahmin.
80–Shatarupa–
Born from Brahma’s left hand, Swayambhumanu’s wife, performed penance to get Shri Ramji as her son. Kausalya took place in this Treta.
81–Shatrughan–
Lakshman ji’s younger brothers were father Dasharatha, mother Sumitra and wife Shrutikirti, sons Subahu and Bhupketu.
Madhupuri was established after killing the demon Madhu. Which is known today as Mathura.
82– Sharabh —
Monkey, commander of Shri Ramji’s army.
83–Sharbhang–
A sage living in Dakshinaranya of Chitrakoot, a great devotee of Shri Ramji, was waiting for the darshan of Shri Ramji. After getting darshan, he left his body with the fire of Yoga.
84– Shabri —
The Bhil girl was an ascetic. Its name was “Shramana”. After gaining knowledge from Rishi Matang, she continued to perform penance for the darshan of Shri Ramji. When he came to search for Sita, he fed forest fruits to Shri Ramji. Shri Ramji preached Navdha Bhakti.
85– Shanta —
She was the daughter of Darshath. The king had given her as a daughter to his friend Anga king Rompada. Shrangi was offered to the sage.
86– Shuka —
Was the messenger of Ravana. He was a knowledgeable sage. A demon was born due to the curse of Agastya ji. After getting the darshan of Shri Ramji, he was freed from the curse and went back to his ashram. Lakshman ji had preached by sending a letter to Ravana through his hands.
While preaching to Ravana, he asked Sita to send her back to Shri Ram, then Ravana kicked her out.
87–Shrungi–
The famous Patasvi was the son of Shamik Rishi. Dashrath ji’s daughter Shanta was his wife. Dasharatha’s son was called to Ayodhya by Vishishtha ji to perform the Putreshti Yagya. Dasharatha ji had 4 sons from the Putreshti Yagya performed by him.
88–Shrutikirti–
Sakalya was the daughter of King Kushadhwaj of the country. She was married to Shatrughan. Subahu and Bhupketu had two sons.
89– Sagar —
Son of Suryavanshi king Ahuk, he had two queens – Sumati and Kesani. There was confusion from Keshani and 60 thousand sons from Sumati. In his lineage came Bhagiratha who performed penance and brought Ganga ji to earth.
90– Sati —
Daksha’s daughter was married to Shiva. To test Shri Ramji, she took the form of Sitaji, then Shivji abandoned her. She went to her father’s yagya without Lord Shiva’s permission. Seeing the Yagya without Lord Shiva and hearing the criticism of Lord Shiva, he gave up his life there.
91– Sampati —
Jatayu’s elder brother and father were Arun. Both the brothers once flew up for a flying competition. Jatayu’s wings started burning due to the brightness of the sun, then Sampati protected his younger brother with his wings, as a result his wings got burnt and he fell on the mountain by the sea. Muni Chandra served and gave a boon that when the monkeys would come in search of Sita, your wings would come out. Tell them the address of Sita ji from your distant vision.
92– Sahasbahu — (Kartavirya)
Father Kritakirya, mother Ekavali, wife Satya had 1000 sons, out of which 995 were killed by Parashurama. The kingdom of Hay Hay dynasty on the banks of Narmada, Mahismati was its capital. Ravana was taken captive, then Pulastya Muni freed him, Parshuram killed him for killing Jamadagni.
93–Saran–
Ravana’s minister had gone to spy on Shri Ramji’s army.
94– Swayamprabha —
The divine Gandharba girl, Hema’s friend, was doing penance in the cave for the darshan of Vishnu. While searching for Sita, the group of monkeys were thirsty and went to her cave. Other names of Swayamprabha, the bright woman of the mind, are also found – Prabhavati, Prabha, Suprabha, Sambhava, Girija, Badri and Pushpamali.
95– Sita —
Father King Janak, there was a famine in Mithila, then the king and queen plowed, at that time the earth was born.
Lord Shri Ramji is their master. Jagajjanani is the incarnation of Mahamaya. Established the ideal of Pativrata Dharma through his conduct.
There are many other stories related to the incarnation of Mother Sita – Padmaja Sita, Agnija Sita, Bhumija Sita, Raktaja Sita etc.
96–Suketu–
Tadka was the father of Rakshasi.
97–Singhika–
Rahu’s mother, Patala Vasini, lived in the sea. She used to catch the shadows of flying creatures and eat them. He killed Hanuman ji when he caught him while going to Lanka.
98– Sutikshna —
Agastya ji’s disciple was an exclusive devotee of Ram. He was a sage with constant love and devotion. Goswami ji has used many special words for Sutikshna Muni. Shri Ramji has picked them up and hugged them to his heart. No other sage has got this good fortune.
99–Sugriva–
Father Surya was a monkey born from the tears of mother Brahma, friend of Shri Ram and brother of Bali. After the death of Bali, he became the king of Kishkindha.
100– Subahu —
Tadka’s son was killed by Shri Ramji while protecting Vishwamitra’s yagya.
101– Sumantra-
He was the minister of Maharaja Dasharatha. He had the freedom to go to every place in the palace at all times. At the time of Shri Ramji’s departure to the forest, King Dasharatha had sent him to show him the forest and bring him back.
102–Sursa–
Swarglok Vashini was a demon, mother of snakes. On the request of Gods, Hanuman ji was stopped from going to Lanka. After taking the examination, Hanuman ji was sent to Lanka with blessings.
103– Sulochana —
Vasuki Naga’s daughter was married to Meghnad. She had utmost devotion to her husband. She committed sati by taking the head of Meghnad from Shri Ramji.
104– Sushen —
He was Ravana’s physician and helped Lakshman overcome his unconsciousness.
Bali’s wife Tara’s father’s name was also Sushen.
105–Surpanakha–
The real name of Shurpanakha, who was famous by this name because of her soup-like nails, was “Vajramani”.
Ravana’s sister, father Vishrava, according to Valmiki, Ravana was younger than Kumbhakaran and elder than Vibhishana, what kind of mother was she. According to the second opinion, mother was Rakha, sibling was brother Khar. Vidyuvih had to suffer. Her husband was killed by Ravana by mistake. When she became a widow, she lived in Panchavati. When Ram proposed marriage to Lakshman, Lakshman ji cut off his nose and ears.
This same hunchback happened in the next life.
106– Hanuman –
Father Kesari, mother Anjana, son Pawan is famous, Mahavir, friend of Ram devotee Sugriva. Served Shri Ramji in the time of crisis, son Makardhwaj is the incarnation of Shankar ji. He is a great scholar, grammarian and Vedagya. He is a disciple of Suryadev.
107– Harishchandra —
Suryavanshi king Satyavrat’s son was Rohitashva from his wife Shaivya (Tara). Vishwamitra had taken the exam, sacrificed everything to follow the truth and sold himself along with his queen. Endured many hardships but followed the truth. There is no truthful person like him.
108– Hema —
Vishwakarma’s daughter lived in the divine city of the south. Mandodari is said to be his daughter.
