One such pond is Ticha Mahadev Pokhari, located in Nagarkot, Bhaktapur. There’s a small temple here too, known as Ratnachundeshwor Mahadev Temple. Mahadev pokhari located to nearly 20 km north side from Kamalbinayak Bhaktapur. This place is a popular religious tourist destination around bhaktapur and kavrepalnchok district.

There is a famous pilgrimage site in Nagarkot-4 which is called Ticha Mahadev (Ratnchudeshwar Mahadev). The old name of Nagarkot is Ratnachud Danda which is also known as Ratnagiri Pahad. Mahadev sitting on the same mountain is called Ratnchudeshwar Mahadev. The pond in the premises of this Mahadev is called Mahadev Pokhari.

That after Mahadev drank the Kalkut poison released during the churning of the ocean, he could not bear the poison. It is called Mahadev Pool after Mahadev slept in it after the pool was prepared’, he adds, ‘After the Mahadev pool was small and the poison was not summoned, Mahadev went to the more recent Gosainkund and the trishul with him broke the guard of the mountain and slept in the same pool. If you can’t reach Gosainkund located in Rasuwa district, it’s like going to Gosainkund when you come to take a bath in Nagarkot. It is believed that there is public trust. A fair is also held in this Mahadev pond on the day of Janai Purnima and this fair is held till midnight of Janai Purnima. This Mahadev is also called Ticha Mahadev in Nepali language and Mahadev pond is called Mahadya: Pukhu.
