Result of listening to Katha Satsang

Once Devarshi Narad went to Lord Vishnu and while paying obeisance said, “Lord, tell me the glory of Satsang.”

God smiled and said, Narad! You go ahead from here, you will find a colorful creature on a tamarind tree. He knows the glory of satsang, he will also explain it to you.

Narad ji happily went near the tamarind tree and started talking to the chameleon. He asked Chameleon about the glory of satsang.

As soon as he heard the question, the chameleon fell down from the tree and, struggling, gave up his life. Naradji returned with surprise and narrated the whole story to God.

God smiled and said, this time you go to the house of that rich man in the city and if you see a parrot in a cage there, ask him about the glory of satsang.
,
Naradji reached there within a moment and asked the parrot the importance of the satsang. After some time, the parrot’s eyes closed and his life feathers also vanished.

This time even Narad ji got scared and ran to Lord Narayan.

Narad ji said, Lord, what a leela this is. Is dying after hearing the name of Satsang the glory of Satsang?

God laughingly said, you will understand this also soon. This time you go to the palace of the king of the city and ask your question to his newborn son.

Naradji started trembling and said, “Till now only the birds were giving up their lives. This time if that newborn royal son dies, the king will not leave me alive.”

God gave protection to Naradji. Naradji came to the palace with his heart in his fist.

He was greatly honored there. Till now the king had no children. Therefore, the birth of the son was being celebrated with great joy.

Naradji fearfully asked the king about his son. Naradji was taken to the king’s son.

When Naradji, drenched in sweat and chanting the name of Sri Hari in his mind, asked the king’s son about the glory of satsang, the newborn child laughed and said…

“Maharaj! Sandalwood does not know its own fragrance and nectar does not know its sweetness. That’s why you don’t know your glory, that’s why you’re asking me.

In fact, with just a moment’s company of you, I became free from the form of a chameleon and with the mere sight of you, I became free from the small form of a parrot and could attain this human birth.

Just because of your association, so many of my sins were cut and I not only reached the human body directly but also became the son of a king. This is the amazing effect of satsang.

The child said – O Rishivar, now bless me so that I may achieve the ultimate goal of human birth.

Naradji happily blessed him and went to Lord Shri Hari and told him everything.

God said, Truly, there is great glory in satsang. The true glory of a saint is known either by the saint or his true loving devotee.

Therefore, whenever you get a chance, you should definitely take the benefit of satsang. Who knows, the words coming from the mouth of which saint or devotee will make life successful..!
