Sarna Mahadev Mandir Simdega Jharkhand
The only Sarna Mahadev temple in Jharkhand, tribals worship Shiva for good rains.
There is only such temple in Jharkhand which people know by the name of Sarna Mahadev Temple. People especially from the tribal community come here to offer water for good rains. A large number of tribal Shiva devotees come here not only from Jharkhand but also from Odisha.
That’s why tribals pray for rain
It is believed that by performing Jalabhishek here in the month of Sawan and Ashadh, it rains heavily. For farmers, this rain is like drops of nectar. Since in Jharkhand, paddy is cultivated only once a year with the help of rain. This produce is useful for the tribals throughout the year.
It is said that for this reason the tribal society here has been worshiping Lord Shiva as Sarna Mahadev. There is no other temple like this in Jharkhand. This temple is in a village about two kilometers away from Simdega district headquarters.
Hindus and tribals worship together here
The tribals here say that the words of Sarna Mahadev are unique. Fulfills every wish. The Shivalinga here has been famous for about 72 years. It is also said that this Shivalinga is self-manifested. The biggest thing is that the followers of Hindu religion and Sarna tribals associated with Sanatan culture jointly come here to worship Mahadev, considering him as a deity. While a huge Kanwar Yatra is organized in Sawan, before this in the month of Ashadh, people of the tribal community also come to offer water to Mahadev with great reverence and faith. They pray to Lord Shiva for good rains and farming. If seen this way, devotees perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva in both the months of Ashadh and Sawan.
The temple was built here 72 years ago
Shivalinga is Swayambhu here, but Sarna Mahadev Dham temple was constructed here in 1951. Radha Krishna Kullukeria had built the temple. At that time, Kallu Ram Kullukeria used to manage the temple. Presently this temple is run by the Kullukaria family.
