Share

A unique temple of Lord Shiva located in a well located in Semradh of Bhadohi district in Uttar Pradesh. According to legends, the Shivalinga installed in the temple originated from a giant beam of light. Semradh Nath Dham is situated on the banks of the Most Holy Mother Ganga near Jangiganj, in the middle of Kashi-Prayag, about 30 kilometers from the district headquarters.
Semradhanath Temple is famous all over the country because this temple is situated in a well. According to the legends, about this Semradh temple situated on the banks of Ganga, it is said that in that era, boats were used to do business through the Ganga route. At that time, a businessman was carrying his goods by boat next to the temple when suddenly his boat got stuck in the same river Ganga, so the businessman decided to rest for the night at the same place and slept there. At night he saw Lord Shiva in his dream and Bhole told him to dig at this place, I am present here. The businessman did the same and started digging here from the next day. While digging, he saw Lord Shiva’s Shivalinga and he thought of taking it with him, but the closer he got to that Shivalinga, the lower it went down. Somehow, after worshiping God, he reached that Shivalinga and it was there that Bhole died. A temple was built, after which even today the temple is at a well-like place.
