It has two important temples of Hindu deities: one of Goddess Shakumbhari herself and the other, a Bhura-Deva temple, about a kilometer away, which is believed to guard the Mataji. Another quite famous temple dedicated to this goddess is near Sambhar Lake in Rajasthan. The second big temple of Shakumbhari Devi is located at Badami in Bagalkot district of Karnataka.

The court of Mata Shakambhari is decorated on the hills of Shivalik, this is the religious belief

Maa Shakambhari Devi Temple, situated on the Shivalik hills in Saharanpur district of Western Uttar Pradesh, is a big center of faith. Maa Shakambhari has been said to be the incarnation of Mata Durga, the glory of Maa Shakambhari has also been described in detail in Durga Saptashati. This Shaktipeeth attracts devotees from all over the country. There is a belief about this Shaktipeeth located in Behat area, about 40 kilometers away from Saharanpur district headquarters, that no wish from here goes unfulfilled.

It is believed that in ancient times, after receiving a boon from Lord Brahma, a demon named Durgam started troubling the gods and humans. There was panic due to the atrocities of the demons. Due to grave sins, there was a famine on the earth. Then the gods performed severe penance for Mother Shakti and Adishakti became pleased and resolved to solve the problems of the gods and appeared. Adishakti fought and killed the demons. Due to famine the vegetation had almost completely disappeared. Then mother shot an arrow into the earth and a stream of water sprang up, which is now known as Baan Ganga, located at some distance from Siddhapeeth. At that time, due to the torrent emanating from the earth and the majesty of the Mother, there was heavy rain. Due to this the earth became green. Shakambhari Siddhapeeth is also mentioned in Markandeya Purana. Due to the growth of vegetation, Mother Goddess had filled the stomachs of the gods with vegetables. Therefore Adishakti became famous by the name of Shakambhari.
