Shiv Mandir/Dharmapur Shiv Temple Chachakpur,Jaunpur
This temple was built by the late King Krishna Dutt Dubey of Jaunpur with great devotion and immense faith in 1943. The villagers of the area donated their labour free of cost to build this magnificent Shiva temple. To build the temple in a beautiful and grand manner, Raja Saheb called the chief mason from Lucknow. The construction work continued for a year, in which about 70 labourers who were local villagers donated their labour free of cost with devotion. Raja Saheb used to come daily to see the progress of the temple construction work. The Shivlinga installed in the Shiv temple built in an area of two bighas was brought from Banaras. There was a beautiful silver snake on the Shivlinga which was stolen by thieves in the year 1970. A concrete lake covered with water all around the temple, a small beautiful bridge of three to four steps to go to the temple, At the end of the bridge and just in front of the entrance of the temple, there are beautiful statues of two women in a worshipping posture and right in front of the entrance, a figure of Lord Shiva’s vehicle, Nandi cow, has been beautifully carved out of marble. Inside the temple, the walls and some animal figures have been beautifully carved.
