Mandar Mountain is located in Banka district, 50 km from Bhagalpur. Mandar Mountain is also called Madaranchal. Mandar Mountain also has its own religious importance. It is said that the Gods used Mandar Mountain as a churning stone to churn the ocean. For Hindus, this mountain is the sacred shelter of Lord Vishnu, while people who follow Jainism believe it to be associated with the famous Tirthankar Lord Vasupujya. People of tribal origin consider this area as Siddhi Kshetra and a day before Makarsakranti they perform Siddhi Puja here all night. The biggest Santali fair is organized here on the occasion of Makaraskranti in which lakhs of people come. Hundreds of ancient sculptures, caves, ruined chaityas and temples carved on the rocks of Mandar are silent witnesses of religious and cultural glory. Mandar Mountain, standing for centuries, is still associated with the faith and belief of the people. The natural beauty of this place and the pond near the mountain make the environment here even more beautiful. This place gives a very pleasant experience to the tourists coming here.
