Extremely well maintained, poojas, havans are conducted strictly as per shastras. Navarathris,in Ashwin& Chaitra months of the Hindu calendar, & the Deepavali celebrations are very famous in vagad region. Glass work above the wall around depicts Adi Lakshmi in various forms/ roopas. On one side of Mahalakshmi ji, is a black stone carving of Nag Devtha& on the other,we see Ganesh ji & Shiv linga m. The Image ( moorthy) of Shree Mahalaxmi ji , beautiful in itself, is further decorated with flowers, jewelry & decked up , each day, depicting different roopams, during Navarathris. Darshan of Ma Mahalaxmi ji,on Deepavali Lakshmi Pooja day, is believed to bring wellness and prosperity. Nearby, at the entrance of the Road , where the Temple is, a small, & old temple of Shri Radha Krishna. Here, on every evening, bhajans are sung by ladies. Don’t miss out Ekadashi or Gyaras . Mahalaxmi Temple has been completely renovated a few years ago. This place is called Mahalaxmi chowk in the old, historic (Purana Shahar), of Dungarpur. Navarathris bring colours too, as local residents perform Dandiya dance, daily evening.Sri Radhashtami is celebrated here with pomp, devotion and gaiety by the gowd Brahmins who maintain this Temple well, with a procession ( nagar braman),day long poojas& austerities. There’s a spacious hall for Bhajans & sathsangs on the first floor.
