Shree Paradeswar Mahadev Temple Haridwar

Share

Shree Paradeswar Mahadev Temple, located in the Kankhal area of Haridwar, is a revered site attracting many visitors each year. Situated approximately 2 km from Haridwar, this temple is home to a unique Shiva Lingam made of 150 kilograms of mercury, known as Parad. Mercury is the only metal that remains in liquid form under normal conditions, and through special processes, it is solidified to form the sacred Parad Shiva Lingam.

The temple also features a Rudraksha tree, which draws many visitors, especially during the Mahashivaratri festival. The temple is part of the Harihar Ashram, located on the banks of the Ganges, which is approximately 2 km from Haridwar in Kankhal. This ashram includes three notable attractions: the Mrityunjay Mahadev Temple, the Paradeswar Temple, and the Rudraksha tree. It is managed by the Juna Akhada and is known as Harihar Ashram.

Worshipping the Parad Shiva Lingam is believed to bring prosperity, health, status, and happiness. It is also said to protect devotees from the adverse effects of the nine planets and bless childless couples with children. The merit gained from visiting the twelve Jyotirlingas is equaled by merely seeing the Parad Shiva Lingam. This Lingam is considered highly auspicious and beneficial, with its significance detailed in various scriptures such as the Brahma Purana, Brahmavaivarta Purana, Shiva Purana, and the Upanishads.

Visiting Shree Paradeswar Mahadev Temple offers a spiritually enriching experience and a chance to witness the unique and powerful Parad Shiva Lingam.
