It is one of the most popular holy places in Dehradun and is located amid the rolling hills replete with luscious greenery.

Shiva Temple is conveniently situated near Kuthal Gate on the way to Mussoorie. The focal point of the temple is a Shivalinga made of sphatik stone. You can get a beautiful view of the sparkling Doon valley from here.

All about Shri Prakasheshwar Mahadev temple

Shiv Mandir, also known as Shri Prakasheshwar Mahadev Temple, is a well-known Shiva temple in Dehradun located on the winding Mussoorie route.

Many Shiva devotees come to this shrine to ask for Mahadev’s blessings. No offerings or donations are accepted at the temple, making it stand out from other temples in India.

On the grounds of the temple, pooja and artis are performed every day. On special occasions like Shivratri and Sawan, a “Bhandara” mass feast is organized, and prasad is given out to the attendees.

Shri Prakasheshwar Mahadev temple is privately owned and is around 1000 years old. Shiva’s tridents can be seen on the temple’s terrace, which talks of unusual architecture. The temple’s walls are decorated with various shades of red, orange, and black paint.

Since it is a privately maintained temple, you are prohibited from donating any money here. They have signs everywhere reminding you of this.

Under the shadow of an old tree, a Shivalinga has been erected in the temple complex, and the sanctum sanctorum houses the heavenly image of Lord Shiva.

Shiva Temple has a wonderfully serene ambiance that makes you feel at peace and brings spiritual happiness.

A few stores sell jewelry and stones related to the zodiac. Visitors can enjoy the fragrant tea while soaking in the stunning view of the gorgeous mountains.

Entry fee and timing of Shri Prakasheshwar Mahadev temple

There is no entrance fee to enter this lovely shrine. The temple is open daily from 8 am to 9 pm.
