Shree Vishveswar Mahadev Temple is a very famous holy place in Banaskantha. Vishweshwar Mahadev Temple is three kilometers away from Iqbalgarh village on Palanpur-Abu road.
It is said that this temple was established centuries ago, when there was dense forest here and many wild animals roamed in the area. Banas river also used to flow here. When this place was excavated, a Shivalinga was found, over which there was a shadow of a snake. A grand idol of Ambaji Mata and an idol of Lord Ganapatiji have also been found. There is a legend behind this centuries old Vishweshwar Mahadev temple. Between Amirgarh and Abu Road was the grand, majestic city of Chandravati Nagari. Chandravati was ruled by the kings of the Parmar dynasty. Many artistic Jain and Hindu temples were found there. It was believed that 999 bells were rung throughout the day in this and its neighboring towns.
The temple is small, but the Shivalinga emerging from the ground with a snake shadow is considered the most auspicious and miraculous.
