Shri Apsareshwar Mahadev (17/84) Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
Apsareshwar was named after the worship of Apsaras. Once upon a time, all the gods along with Indra were residing in the Nandan forest. An Apsara named Rambha was dancing there. At that time her mind got confused by someone’s memory and she started missing time. Indra got angry and cursed Rambha to roam the earth without any light. Rambha fell to earth due to the curse. Here she started mourning, some of Rambha’s friends came there and were saddened to see her pain. At the same time Maharishi Narad was passing by there,When he saw the nymphs mourning, the nymphs told him the whole story. On this Naradji told him to go to Mahakal forest and worship Shivling there. By worshiping this Shivlinga, Urvashi attained Pururava king. Rambha got freedom from the curse of Indra by worshiping the said Shivalinga. Due to the worship of Apsaras, Shivlinga became famous by the name of Apsareshwar Mahadev. Belief: All wishes are fulfilled just by seeing Shivalinga. By touching Shivalinga one attains the happiness of the kingdom.
