Basheshwar Mahadev Temple, Kullu
Basheshwar Mahadev Temple is considered to be the largest stone temple in Kullu Valley. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is also known as Visweshvara Mahadev Temple. This ancient temple is said to be built in 8th century. Situated on the banks of River Beas, the temple houses a large Yoni Lingam, representing Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvati.
Basheshwar Mahadev Temple was built in Pahari style. This Temple is famous for exquisite stone carvings, sculptures, and flat shikharas. The exteriors of the temple are sculptured with floral designs while the interiors are decorated with fine carvings on stone. This complex also houses various small shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesh, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. Devotees can also visit the three sided temple, which is just outside the main shrine.
