There is a 400 year old Banke Bihari temple in Chowk of Azamgarh district. Lord Krishna’s birthday is celebrated twice in this temple. Shri Krishna’s birth anniversary is celebrated once at 12 noon and second time at 12 midnight in Rohini Nakshatra.There is a belief about this temple that whichever devotee asks for his wish from Banke Bihari. God fulfills his every wish. This is the reason why devotees throng the temple.
This temple is rare
Santu Aggarwal, who is looking after the Banke Bihari temple, said that this temple is more than 400 years old. Lord Krishna’s birthday is celebrated here every year for 100 years. Along with this, 22 festivals are celebrated with great pomp in this temple in a year. A large number of devotees come to see these programs. The biggest feature of this temple is that along with Radha Krishna, Radha’s two friends Lalita, Vishakha and Banke Bihari are sitting on a lotus flower, which are rare.
Ram’s name bank in the temple
Santu Aggarwal told that there is also a bank named Ram in this temple. Here a booklet named Ram is given to the devotees for 9 days. This book has to be written in the name of Ram and submitted here within 9 days. Along with this, when there is too much money in the bank, flour pellets are made in paper bundles and fed to the fishes.
