In the courtyard of the grand temple of the sixteenth Jain Tirthankar, Shri Shantinath Bhagwan, at Chhani (Vadodara), a 33 cm tall white statue of Shri Vimal Parshvanath Bhagwan in Padmasana posture, adorned with seven serpent hoods, is placed on a threshold.

Chhani or Chhani is an ancient center of Jain culture, faith, and devotion, where many devout followers have adopted the path of restraint. This sacred place is home to Acharyadev Shri Kamalsurishvarji, Acharyadev Shrimad Vijay Bhuvantilaksurishvarji,It is also the birthplace of many great Acharyas like Acharyadev Shrimad Vijay Vikramsurishwarji, Acharyadev Shrimad Vijay Naveensurishwarji, Acharyadev Shrimad Vijaybhadrankarsurishwarji etc.

Chhani, once known as Chhayapuri, had five beautiful and magnificent temples. Over time, these temples became dilapidated and old. It is believed that these temples are consecrated in the present temple. The ancient, attractive and captivating idol of Shri Vimal Parshvanath was installed in the temple of Shri Shantinath Bhagwan in Vikram Samvat 1893 and the idol of Shri Mahavir Bhagwan was installed in V.S. 2020.

The name of Chhayapur Parshvanath is mentioned in the scriptures in the “365 Shri Parshva Jin Namamala” written by Sri Premvijayji in the year 1655 of the Vikram Era. It is believed that Chhayapur Parshvanath is Vimal Parshvanath.

The temple remains closed in the afternoon and opens at 6 pm in the evening. If you reach before that, then Pujari ji opens it for you. His residence is the last one in the row of houses opposite the main gate.

The main deity is Shri Shantinath Bhagwan. To reach the main temple around 15-20 steps have to be climbed. After the darshan once you come down the stairs, in the side row, you will find Shri Vimal Parshwanath, one among the 108 Parshwanaths. The idol is ancient, becomes apparent.
