Shri Gadaliya Parsvanath Shwetambar Murtipujak Jain Derasar, Jalisana, Mandal,Ahmedabad,Gujarat

Share

In Mandal of Ahmedabad district there is a magnificent Jain temple of Shri Gadalia Parshvanath Prabhu. The idols with 7 hoods and artistic entourage are 10 inches tall and 6.25 inches wide. The idols look very pleasant and contemporary.  This idol is famous by the name of Lord Gadliya Parshvanath because its Pabasan (cart) is in the shape of a cart. This Gadliya Parshvanath is a delightful and contemporary idol adorned with seven hoods in an artistic setting. This Mandal village is the birthplace of General Secretary Vastupal and Tejpal. This temple was built around Samvat 1875.

A very beautiful Jain Derasar, a hidden gem located in the small town of Mandal. Mandal is on the way to Shankheshwar Tirth. There are 3 temples. The center one being the one of Shri Gadalia Parshwanath. Then there is a huge recently constructed temple of marble next to it. The temple is in the heart of the town.

Arrived at the temple it was close. But the pujari lives just behind it. So requested him to open it for darshan. That is usually done in any Jain Tirth, if a pilgrim comes from far, they open the temple for darshan.

Saw the ancient temple, which has a small but delicately carved ‘pratimaji’ (idol) of Gadalia Parshwanath. The temple’s interior is in need of restoration. It is decorated with lots of wall paintings and different colours over the mouldings, making it strikingly attractive. There are various murals (pattas) of differnt Jain tirths on the walls. A remarkable one is of Shatrunjaya Tirth etched in metal, maybe silver. Paintings of various Gods and Goddesses near the ceiling are tastefully done.
