Here Lord Guheshwar is seated in the ground floor. The very ancient temple of Shri Guheshwar Mahadev is very miraculous, which comes second among 84 Mahadevs. The black stone idol of God in the temple is extremely miraculous and divine. There is a statue of Lord Ganesha in the middle above the entrance, which is extremely divine. The priest Pandit of the temple told that although all the sins are destroyed by the mere darshan of Guheshwar Mahadev, it is believed that the religion and penance of the person who worships Shivalinga never diminishes. By having darshan of this Shivalinga on Ashtami and Chaturdashi tithi, human ancestors attain Brahmalok.

Mythological story of Guheshwar Mahadev
In ancient times, there was a great yogi whose name was Mankanak. He was a great reader of Vedas and an expert in Vedas and Vedas. Because of his desire to achieve success, he was always engrossed in penance. Once, while doing penance in the cedar forest, a thorn of Kush got stuck in his finger but instead of blood, vegetable juice (like medicine) started flowing. Seeing this incident, he became extremely happy and started dancing with pride that this had happened as a result of his accomplishment. He had already attained Siddhi, hence there was an uproar in the whole world due to the power of penance. Due to his penance, the rivers started flowing reverse and the movement of the planets reversed. Seeing this serious situation, all the gods and goddesses reached Lord Devadhidev Mahadev and requested him to stop the sage.

Hearing the request of the gods, Lord Shiva reached the sage and started stopping him from dancing. But the sage did not care about the pride of accomplishment and he started telling Shivji also to be proud of accomplishment. To free the sage from pride, Lord Shiva took out ashes from the tip of his finger and said to the sage that look, I am not proud of this accomplishment and I am not even dancing despite being Nataraja. Hearing Lord Shiva’s words, the sage became very embarrassed and asked for forgiveness and also requested him to suggest a solution to increase his penance. Then Lord Shiva said that there is a Linga born in Saptakul in Mahakal forest, have darshan of it and worship that Linga. On the advice of Devadhidev Mahadev, the sage did the same due to which the sage attained the brightness like the Sun and he used his Siddhi for public welfare. Due to its location in a small cave, the Linga became famous by the name of Guheshwar Mahadev.
