Shri Jalpeshwar Mahadev Mandir (66/84) Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
Years ago there was a king named Jalap. He was stunning. He had five sons: Subahu, Shatramahi, Jai, Vijay and Vikrant. The king gave the kingdom of the east to Subahu, of the south to Shatramahi, of the west to Jai, of the north to Vijay and of the middle to Vikrant and himself went to do penance. Here, on the orders of the minister, Vikrant took over the kingdom of the four brothers and killed them all. When the king came to know about this, he started mourning. The king told Vashishtha Muni in the forest itself that Brahmins had been killed in the war. He will be punished for the sin of killing his sons. He asked the sage the solution to free himself from sins. The sage said that King, you should worship the Shivling located to the west of Kukkuteshwar Mahadav in Mahakal forest. By worshiping him, Parshuram was also freed from his sins. On the orders of King Muni, Mahakal came to the forest and worshiped Shivalinga. Lord Shankar was pleased and a voice from the sky said that King, you are sinless. Whatever happened happened because of fate. You ask for a boon. The king said that I should be freed from the bondage of births and I should be famous. Due to the boon, Shivling became famous by the name of Jalpeshwar Mahadav. It is believed that whoever worships Jalpeshwar Mahadev does not lose his wealth and son.
