Shri Kameshwar Mahadev, Kamvan,Kaman, Rajasthan
Kameshwar Mahadev had burnt Kamadeva to ashes in Kaman.
Shri Krishna has enthralled it with his pastimes and his great grandson Vajranabha has decorated it with legacies. After Shri Krishna went to Gaulok, Vajranabha became the king of Mathura. At that time Braj had become barren. Vajranabha re-established the places of worship of Lord Krishna with the help of sage Parikshit and Shandilya. Three idols were installed by him in Kaaman i.e. Kamyavan, among which Kameshwar Mahadev is famous. Kameshwar Mahadev is counted among the major Shiva temples of Braj. The original idol of Kameshwar Mahadev is situated near the Mathura gate in Kamyavan.
This pagoda is five thousand years old. Vajranabh has established them here. The story of Kameshwar Mahadev is related to the creator of the universe, Brahma Ji. This is described in Srimad Bhagwat. It was at this place that Lord Shiva had burnt Kamadeva to ashes.
Brahmaji had performed penance on this earth in Satyayuga. From his organ was born the white horoscope man. Brahmaji told him, O son! You go and attack Shiva. At that time Lord Vishnu went to protect Lord Shiva and said that you cut my arm with your trident, it will protect you. Lord Shiva obeyed the order. That arm attacked the white horoscope with Shiva’s trident in the waist region. The stream of blood from the body of the injured White Kundali fell into the skull bowl of Lord Shiva. From this blood stream Rakta Kundali Purusha was born. Then the war started between the two. Then a voice came from the sky that according to my power you will appear on the sacred Vasundhara of Kamyavan. Over time, the white horoscope appeared as Kameshwar Mahadev and the blood horoscope appeared as Baijnath. At the beginning of Kaliyuga, Shri Krishna’s great grandson Vajranabha re-established Kameshwar Mahadev.
