The Kanaka Mahalakshmi Temple in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, is a significant religious site dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi. The temple boasts a rich history, dating back to the 18th century. It is said to have been the family deity of the erstwhile kings of Visakhapatnam. The temple’s architecture is a blend of traditional Dravidian style, featuring intricate carvings and sculptures.

According to local lore, an idol was discovered from a well in 1912 and installed into a small shrine at its original spot along a road. In 1917 during road widening, municipal authorities removed and relocated it in one corner.
