Shri Kapileshwar Temple Balod,Chhattisgarh

This monument is situated in Balod town which is a Tehsil headquarter about 100 kms. from Raipur city on Durg-Kanker road. This complex consists of seven temples which include Kapileahwar temple, Ganesh temple, Durga temple, Ramajanki temple, Radhakrishna temple and Hanuman temple. This temple was built by the Nagavanshi rulers during the 13th–14th cent. A.D. There is a round shaped baodi in front of Kapileshwar temple in the complex with stairs and it contains religious sanctity because its water was poured on the Lingum and the sculptures to bathe them. This temple has important archeological and religious value.

Kapileshwar Temple Balod Chhattisgarh

Kapileshwar temple group is in Nayapara ward of Balod city of Chhattisgarh. This temple group has six temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesha, Lord Krishna, Goddess Santoshi and Ram Janaki. Kapileshwar Temple Group Balod Chhattisgarh – Built during the Nagvanshi rule in the 13th-14th century. These temples are built in Peeda Deval style.

Kapileshwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shankar is the biggest temple among these, due to which the group of these temples is called Kapileshwar Temple Group. This is an east facing temple. 6 feet statues of Lord Ganesha are installed on both sides of the temple. Statues of Ganga, Yamuna and Dwarpal are installed on the right and left side of the door branch of the temple.

The second temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. A 6 feet statue of Lord Ganesha is installed in the sanctum sanctorum of this temple. The peak of the temple is built in Pida Deval type. Many statues of Lord Ganesha are found in Chhattisgarh, but most of the statues are installed in the open or in the pavilion of a temple, but such temples are found very rarely.
