Share

This divine temple is located at 13 km from the city on Ujjain-Indore Highway, turn right near Mahavir Tapobhoomi Jain Temple Road, go 4 km further, turn left for village Karohan, at a distance of 2 km, the long road is situated on the right side of the main road in a picturesque natural environment. There are two gates of the temple complex – 1 in the north-east direction and 2 in the east direction. The Sabhamandap has been built by extending the first 8 black stone pillars of the original temple building.

Similarly, there is a steel door inside the 7 feet high east facing entrance on ancient black pillars, inside which on the entry, on the left side of our entry, there is a 2.6 feet high marble statue of Lord Ganesha with vermilion color and a 15 inch high marble statue of Parvati and on the right side there is another statue of Parvati. Yes, there is no statue of Kartikeya.

In the sanctum sanctorum of about 150 square feet, a snake, 2 conch shells, the sun and the moon are engraved on a brass water vessel about 6 feet wide and 8 feet long, while another snake with 5 hoods and Om engraved on it is made of 10 inches high black stone. There is shadow on Shivalinga.

The reservoir is north facing and has a brass circle inscribed with Om Namah Shivay around it. A 5 feet high trident is buried nearby on which there are figures of Damru, Om and Naga. The water tank is of brass and the floor is of marble, while the walls on all sides are made of original black stones, bearing witness to antiquity.

Outside, a large Nandi made of brown and red stone, 2.5 feet long, 1.25 feet wide and 2 feet high, is seated on a 9 inches high pedestal. On the right side of the temple building, two temples of Ganga Maiya and Satyawadi Tejaji Maharaj are built, while on the left side, two big halls (1) of 500 square feet and (2) of 1200 square feet size are built for the accommodation of Panchkroshi pilgrims. The temple is grand and worth seeing.

Mahadev told the story to Goddess Parvati that during the reign of Vaivaswat Manu, out of the 50 daughters born to Daksha’s wife born to Brahma, among the twenty-two given to Chandrama, Rohini was very dear to him, not the remaining twenty-six. Due to this, Daksh cursed Chandrama, in return Chandra also cursed Daksha to become Prachetas. Daksh performed Ashwamedha Yagya but did not invite both of us (Mahadev and Parvati).

Then O Goddess! You asked to make all the gods bodyless. In anger, Bhadrakali and Tapomayi Devi by the name Maya appeared from your nostrils, here I created Veerbhadra. I ordered Veerbhadra to go with these two goddesses and capture Indra, Yama, Varun, Vayu, Kuber etc. and Daksh was tied in a noose and all the gods took refuge in Brahma.

Bhadrakali and Veerbhadra destroyed the yagya and banished the gods. Thereafter, Brahma came to me on the Mandar mountain and after narrating the whole story, asked me how the ascension of the distraught gods would happen. Then I sent him to Mahakaal forest and asked him to see a beautiful Linga situated in the south direction which is the provider of all wealth, divine and useful for the Siddhas. By the grace of this Linga, the Gods became incorporeal and the Tushitgans i.e. sub-gods were restored to their original form. Since then this Linga is famous by the name of Kayavaroharneshwar.

Yama is like a father to the person who sees this Linga. He becomes free from the sins acquired in millions of births and is not reborn for millions of Kalpas. Even if someone stubbornly worships this divine Linga, these gods provide him with pleasures.
