According to the legend, sage Markandeya performed penance for Lord Shiva here. Due to which the temple was named Mankeshwar. Mankeshwar Mahadev Temple is situated at Triveni Sangam near Somnath. Two Shivalingas are installed in the garbha grha of the temple. There are many tombs built near the temple.
