Nand Bhawan Gokul Village-
Shri Nand Bhavan in Gokul is the childhood home of Lord Krishna, where he spent time with Balarama when his birth parents were taken captive by King Kansa. It is also known as Chaurasi Khambha Temple because it rests on 84 pillars. Nand Bhavan belonged to Nand Maharaj, the foster father of Lord Krishna. It was here that the naming ceremony of Shri Krishna and Balram was performed.
Nand Bhawan is situated in a huge complex which is known for its architecture. It consists of a kitchen, store room, dining room and bedroom. Chaurasi Khambha Temple has 84 stairs which represent 84000 species of life in the physical world. Pictures and motifs of Lord Krishna adorn the walls of the temple while the stone pillars are exquisitely carved. There is a huge banyan tree in the courtyard where devotees tie colorful threads or ribbons. There is also a temple of Maa Kali under this tree.
