Shri Pataleshwar Mahadev Mandir Palanpur,Banaskatha Gujarat
The temple of Pateleshwar Mahadev, situated beside the Kirtist in the city, is famous as the place of birth of Gurjar Solanki king Siddharaj Jaysingh. But its special significance is due to the spontaneous manifest miracle shilling from the abyss. This temple was named as Pataleshwar Mahadev, due to the formation of the abyss. In the history of Palanpur and in the inscription on the pinnacle, this place is also mentioned as the birthplace of Siddharaj Jai Singh.
Apart from its holiness,This place is beautifully crafted and located nicely. It’s also the birthplace of Greatest Solanki king Siddhraj Jaysinh. Build around 1150 A.D In the happiness of birth of Jaysinh his mother Minaldevi decided to build a Stepwell and while doing so they found a Shivling there and that’s why she decided to build an enormous Shivalaya! This place remains crowded during sacred Hindu Shravan month.
Shivling is 100 ft deep in patal, that’s why the name of shivling is pataleshwar mahadev.
