The temple is dedicated to Raj Rajeshwari and is revered by Hindus and all spiritual seekers as it is believed to be blessed by the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu, including Lord Ram. History

Before the construction of Sri Raj Rajeshwari temple, this area belonged to Shri Amritpuri Maharaj and area was called Amritpuri ka Chippa. An Akhada (arena) of Naga Sadhus, was organized here.

During the reign of Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, Maratha army attacked Jaipur. Maratha and Jaipur army fought at Tunga, near Jaipur. Marathas heavily pounded on Jaipur which caused Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh to anguish. Worried, he sought help & blessings from Shri Amritpuri Maharaj to turn the tide against the Marathas.

Shri Amritpuri Maharaj gave his blessings to the king but with a rider that upon winning the war against Marathas, he should construct a temple dedicated to Mata Raj Rajeshwari.

Pratap Singh went back to war and eventually won. After ascending throne of Jaipur in 1778, Sawai Maharaja Pratap Singh constructed Rajrajeshwari Temple in the beautiful vallies of Mansagar under the guidance of Maharaj Amritpuri ji.

Lion sculpted out of stones on either side of the gate is a signature style found in all temples built by Maharajah Sawai Pratap Singh.

The temple is one of the major temples of Goddess Shakti in Jaipur. What makes it the special temple in Jaipur is that it is established with tantric rituals, making it a Shakti Peeth. Shakti meaning power and Peeth is seat, thus the temple is seat of Maa Durga.

It is believed that devotees who worship Rajrajeshwari are blessed with knowledge, wisdom and righteous path of living.
