Shri Ram Janki Hanuman Mandir

Share

Shri Ram Janki Hanuman Mandir is is located at Purani Chhawni (Chhawani) village belongs to Dholpur (Dhaulpur) tehsil and district in Rajasthan.

As per legends, Purani Chhawni was established in around year 1799 by Maharaj Kirat Singh Ji and Hanuman Ji temple was constructed in the year 1805 by him. The statue of Hanuman Ji established in this temple is marvelous and uncommon. About 7 feet high idol of Lord Hanuman is like a strong warrior, structure and colour is same as the human body.

The Vigraha of Lord Hanuman Ji here is unique and very rare to see in other places because there are blood vessels in the statue. The blood’s arteries in the arms and legs of the statue and the blood flow in image shines like a human.

Hanuman’s another name is “langra veer”; langra in Hindi means limping, and veer means “brave”. The narrative behind this name of Hanuman (Langra) is as follows.

He was wounded while crossing Ayodhya with the Sanjeevani Booti Parvat in his hands. As he was crossing over, Bharat, Rama’s younger brother, saw him and presumed that some Rakshasa was carrying this mountain to attack Ayodhya. Bharat shot him with an arrow bearing the name of Rama. The fact that this arrow had Rama’s initials and injured his leg is the reason Hanuman did not block it. While Bharat was lifting the mountain to save his brother Lakshmana, Hanuman dismounted and gave him a warm welcome. Bharat expressed regret and volunteered to shoot an arrow at Lanka so that Hanuman could ride and reach places quickly. Hanuman, however, declined the offer and continued on his journey with his damaged leg while choosing to fly alone.

The mark of the same arrow is at the foot of this statue of Hanuman Ji.

Maharaja Kirat Singh constructed Shri Ram temple (with vigraha in north facing) in front of Hanumanji temple (vigrah in south facing) in the year 1811. The Vigrah of Shri Ram in Ram Mandir is amazing made of Ashtadhatu with the view that it includes the Vigilance of 24 incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
