In the grand temple of Lord Sheetal Nath in Gopipura area of ​​Surat, the main city of Gujarat, a 58 inch white bright statue of Lord Sahastraphana Parshvanath with a thousand hoods in Kayotsarga posture is seated in a Bhoyar with entourage. This unique statue possesses many unique distinctions. The entourage features exquisite carvings of ten Ganadharas. At the Lord’s feet is a statue of Goddess Padmavati. Meghmali is depicted bowing at the Lord’s feet, begging for forgiveness. Made from a single large stone, it is truly captivating and unique. The 1,000 serpent hoods are carved in an artistic manner, which is why the deity is known as Sahastraphana Parshvanath.

This idol of Shri Sahasraphana Parshvanath Prabhu is very impressive, amazing, unique, miraculous and captivating. It is said that no devotee can worship this idol of Sahastraphana Parshvanath Bhagwan for 6 months continuously.

Miracles are said to occur at this temple. Once, when the 108 Parshvanath deities were being worshipped, a miracle occurred. A saffron-colored aqueous solution appeared on the idol. Dharnendra Dev appears here frequently.

This statue of Shri Sahasraphana Parshvanath is the only one of its kind in the world. Carved from a single stone, it is incomparable and unique. It is in Kayotsarga posture with hands resting on a lotus flower and is carved very beautifully and artistically. There is a smile on the face of the Lord which looks very attractive and the devotees feel as if some magnetic force is pulling them towards Lord Parshvanath.

This place is counted as one of the origianl temples. amongst 108 temples of parshwanath dada. It has grave significance. Regular visitors have very many stories to tell about the history and essence of idol, stories on unflinching faith and miracles.

Surat is also known as “Sone ki Moorat”. Surat is an ancient city with many famous ancient Jain temples. There was a huge population of Jains living here and many of them were very prosperous. They were very religious and spent their money in many religious activities. One such activity was building temples for the future generations of the Jain community. Shresthi Shri Bhaidas Nemidas was one such person. After hearing the religious lectures of Shri Jinlabhsurishvarji, this Shresthi felt he had to do something for the jain community. So, he built a gorgeous, alluring and beautiful temple and installed 181 idols of Thirthankaras by the revered hands of Pujya Acharya Shy Jinlabhsurishvarji on the 12th day of the bright half of the month of Vaisakh in V.S.1827. Shri Sheetalnath Bhagwan was installed as the Mulnayak. In the basement of this temple, Shri Sahastrafana Parshvanath Bhagwan was installed as the Mulnayak. Many more idols were installed by this Shresthi in this temple in V.S.1828 with great pomp and glamour. In V.S.1829, a beautiful temple was built by this Shresthi on the hills of Shri Shatrunjay. This temple exists even today on the hills of Shatrunjay Mahatirth. This Shresthi built an Upashraya in the Oswal Mohalla of Surat by the name Shri Sheetalwadi Upashraya. This Shresthi was given the title of “Ashadi Megh” for his many religious activities. This idol of Shri Sahastrafana Parshvanath is very impressive, influential, unique, miraculous and captivating.
