Shri Samavashran Jain Tirth, Kachra Pole, Nanavat,Surat,Gujarat
In the Shri Mahavir Swami Chaumukhji Samavsaran temple, built of sharp stone at Kachra ki Pol in Surat-Nanavat, the idol of the main deity, dated 1633 AD, is enshrined. The only Shri Mahavir Swami Samavasaran temple in South Gujarat was built around 1940 AD by Visa Shrimali Seth Shri Talkchandji Motilalji Kachrawala, a resident of Surat, belonging to the Kachra family who came from Patan. The main deity is Shri Mahavir Swami Parmatma. Chaumukhji and other idols were installed on Shravan Vadi 3, 1961. Chaumukhji houses the idols of Shri Mahavir Swami, Shri Parshvanath Bhagwan, Shri Munisuvrata Swami, and Shri Mahavir Swami Bhagwan.
It is noteworthy that in 1936 AD, under the inspiration of Shri Ratnasagarji M.S., a wooden Samavasarana was created in the Upashraya of Shri Nemubhai Wadi, which was later brought to Nanavat. Inspired by Acharya Shri Rajendrasuriji of the Tristutik tradition, a reed-like Samavasarana was built in this Jain temple in place of the wooden Samavasarana. The consecration took place under the guidance of the revered Shri Mohanlalji M.S., the Mumbai-Surat saviour. The temple features beautiful plaques depicting the 27 incarnations of Lord Mahavira. Adjacent to the temple is the Shri Mahavir Swami Jain Dharamshala (dining hall).
Very good Jain temple where Mahavir Swami is seen in his samovsharan. All the 27 bhav of mahavir Swami are pictured here.
