Shri Shukleshwar Mahadev Temple Shuklatirth,Bharuch,Gujarat
This temple is mentioned in Narmada Puran. King Chanakya prayed to Shivji for Mukti. There was an Akashvani which stated that the king must visit Amarkantak where Narmada orignates. He has to carry a black cloth, a black cow and a black sailboat. The place where these three things turn into white, he will attain Mukti (freedom from suffering). After visiting many pilgrimage places along Narmada’s bank, at Shuklatirth all the three things turned white.
Shivji appeared here and told the king that, not only him but his Pitars (Ancestors) would also attain mukti. Shivji told him to ask a boon, to which the king having every thing fulfilled in life asked shivji to stay at this place for eternity for the benefit of mankind.
People visit this place for mukti of their ancestors and themselves.
This tirth is on the bank of Narmada.
