Why was the place named ‘Siddhabali’

Guru Gorakhnath, considered to be the incarnation of Shiva in Kaliyuga, attained Siddhi here. That’s why he is called Siddhababa.

According to Gorakh Purana, Guru Gorakhnath’s Guru Machhendra Nath was living with Queen Mainakani of Triya kingdom on the orders of Hanuman ji. When Guru Gorakhnath came to know about this, he set out to liberate his Guru from the Triya kingdom.

It is believed that here Bajrang Bali changed his form and blocked the path of Guru Gorakhnath. After which there was a war between the two. Neither of them could defeat the other, after which Bajrang Bali came in his real form and asked for a boon from Guru Gorakhnath. On which Guru Gorakhnath requested Hanuman to stay here as his sentinel. It is also believed that Sikh Guru Guru Nanak Dev and a Muslim fakir also worshiped at this place.
