Somnath Mahadev, Kharun-Shivnath change color thrice a year

There is a Somnath temple near Simga village located on Bilaspur road, just 45 kilometers from the capital of Chhattisgarh. The Shivalinga installed in the temple is said to be hundreds of years old. The specialty of Shivling is that the color of Shivling changes in every season. Therefore, thousands of devotees throng here to have darshan.

Somnath Temple, located near Simga village on the main road going from Railway Station to Bilaspur via Fafadih Chowk, is not only the center of faith, the environment around here is beautiful. Being situated on the banks of confluence of Kharun River and Shivnath River, hundreds of tourists come every day for picnic. There is a constant flow of tourists on Sundays and holidays. The importance of Shivling is because the color of Shivling changes during monsoon, summer and winter. Shivalinga appears red in summer, brown in monsoon and black in winter.

6th century temple

Somnath Shivalinga is 6th-7th century old. The temple located in Lakhna village of Simga on Raipur-Bilaspur Highway Road is famous throughout the state. It is said about the three feet high Shivalinga that its size was earlier smaller. The height of the particles is increasing.

Dev of Nishad community

The people of the village say that a Shivalinga was found during the excavation, which was installed on a nearby mound. The people of Nishad community who do boating and fishing business in the river worship him as their worshipable deity. There is an ancient temple of Bholenath in the middle of the river, during the rainy days this temple gets submerged in the river. In summer, when the water level is low, Shivlinga can be seen.
