Gupteshwar Temple is located along the bank of river Brahmaputra. People from around Assam and abroad come to Gupteshwar Temple during Maha Shivratri. It is a prehistoric temple of lord Shiva. While the Sringhi Rishi was meditating in the Singri hills, the rakshasas became jealous and chased him. He entered a pool to hide. Tinali Center lies downhill of guptshwar.
A large fair with attractions and a circus takes place during the temple’s annual festival.

Singri Gupteswar Temple is a prehistoric temple of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the temple was constructed by King Bana of Sonitpur(Tezpur). It is also said that a cow of Sri Sri Shankardeva’s father used to give milk here, which led Kushumbar Bhuyan (father of Sri Sri Shankardeva) to worship Lord Shiva for a son, who was named after the Lord as Shankara(a name of Lord Shiva
Sri Sri Gupteswar (Gupta-Iswar) means hidden God is a famous and remarkable temple of lord Shiva in North-East India. It is one of the most ancient temples in Assam situated at Singri(dhekiajuli), a place renowned for its treasure of Archeological monuments on the Northern bank of River Brahmaputtra in the district of Sonitpur. This holy place has been containing mythological grandeur, legendry vividness and bonanza of lapidary sculptures. According to the Archeological Survey of India (A.S.I.) the temple belongs to 7th century and standing on the foothills of Singri over a cave.
The scenic splendours of the rocks and rock-domes, rivers and ravines, lush green meadows and exuberant flora and fauna made the region congenial for meditation where lived Sage “Rishya Sringa”. He had the power to create rain possessing celestial wisdom and spiritual insight. A small neglected pit at the top of Singri hillock still bears the testimony of being a Yagyan Kunda (fire place) and altars for worship.
Goverment has taken such a weak steps that people still dont know about this temple, which must be known all over Assam Not only Assam but also India for its history.
