Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple /Sri Kengal Anjaneya Swamy Temple Channapatna
Kengal Anjaneya Swamy is five and a half foot-high idol with moustache of lord Hanuman made of natural red stone which is swyam bhu that looks as if it is smeared with Sindur.
Sri Vyasa Thirtha, the famous teacher of Krishna Devaraya, installed this statue in 16th century. The temple was constructed by Hoyasala kings and was later renovated by Late Sri Hanumanthaiah, Chief Minister of Mysore State.
You can see Lord Narasimha with Lakshmi is seen idols beside main deity. Just in front there is a beautiful brass idol of Lord Balaji with His two spouses, Sridevi and Bhu Devi. On the left hand side there is shrine for Lord Sri Rama. Lakshmana and Sita.
The temple premises are quite spacious with very big trees and plants.Just outside the temple there is a pond with a row of steps.
This temple is open on all days between 7 AM to 7 PM. It is located on Bangalore Mysore highway near Channapatna.
