Sri Jagannath Mandir Raipur Chhattisgarh

Share

Jagannath Temple of Gayatri Nagar is the only temple in Chhattisgarh where the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is inaugurated by the head of Chhattisgarh by performing the rituals of cleaning the route with a gold broom. It is known as Chhera-Pahra Rit.
Apart from the Chief Minister, other ministers also get an opportunity to serve God in bringing the idol of God on the head from the sanctum sanctorum. Devotees throng to see such a moment. Despite the tight security arrangements of the police personnel, there is no space left to set foot in the temple.
Purandar Mishra, the founder president of Shri Jagannath Temple Committee, says that the foundation stone of the temple was laid only during the year 2000 when Chhattisgarh was formed. The construction of the temple was completed in 2003, three years after the formation of Chhattisgarh.
Idols made of neem wood were brought from Odisha. The scholar Acharyas of Puri original temple duly performed the life of the idols of Lord Jagannath, Bhaiya Balabhadra and sister Subhadra.
During the Rath Yatra festival, dress and jewelry are ordered from Puri to make adorable makeup. The way God is adorned in the Puri temple is adorned on the same lines.

In the temple in Puri, Odisha, the way God is taken out on three different chariots and the rath yatra is taken out by his elder brother and sister. Similarly, this is also the first temple of Chhattisgarh where the journey on three chariots leaves. The chariot of Lord Jagannath is called ‘Nandi Ghosh’ and the chariot of the elder brother Balabhadra and the chariot of sister Subhadra is called ‘Devdalan’ chariot. At the forefront, Balaramji’s chariot is taken out in the middle and Jagannathji’s chariot is taken out in the last.
After duly worshiping in the sanctum sanctorum located at a high altitude from the ground floor, the Lord is seated on the chariot and visiting the areas of Gayatri Nagar, Shankaranagar, BTI Ground etc. After the journey, God sits for 10 days on the ground floor below the original temple, which is called aunt’s house (Gundicha temple).
As soon as he entered the temple from the main gate, the tableau is the center of attraction presenting the scene of the Gita preaching given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna by Lord Krishna mentioned in Mahabharata. The statue of Shri Krishna and behind Arjuna as a charioteer drawing a chariot made of stone and the charioteer on it is visible.
