Sri Kalyana Venkateshwara Temple Tirupati
Sri Kalyana Venkateswara swamy Temple is an ancient Hindu temple at Srinivasamangapuram in Tirupati of Andhra Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, a form of Vishnu and is referred to as Kalyana Venkateshwara.The temple is considered to be sacred next to Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala.
The idol of Lord Venkateswara in Mangapuram temple is taller than the one at Tirumala, and is said to be more attractive. It is said that Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy here is a mirror image of Sri Venkateswara in Tirumala.
The presiding deity of Kalyana Venkateshwara is facing west and is in standing posture with four hands with left two hands one in varada mudra and one holding Chakra and right two hands one in kati mudra and the other holding Shankha.
According to legend, Lord Venkateshwara stayed here after his marriage with Sri Padmavati Devi before proceeding to Tirumala.Once the marriage ceremony got over, Lord Venkateshwara paid a visit to the holy ashram of sage Agasthya located near the banks of the river Swarnamukhi in Chandragiri Hills. It is believed that sage Agasthya requested them to stay in his ashram for six months.Agasthya muni told them that newly married couples are not supposed to climb hills. Later, the location where the Lord stayed with his bride became a holy shrine and acquired the name, Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple.
As per Hindu customs newly married couples are not supposed to climb hills, such devotees can have darshan of the Lord at this temple and attain moksha.
It is also said that individuals having trouble getting into wedlock can pray here and get rid of troubles. Kalyana Utsavam to the Lord is performed here every day. Devotees get rid of their troubles by attending this ritual. At the end of the ritual, the Priest ties kankana (Yellow thread) to the right hand of the Devotee.
Annual Brahmotsavam and Shakshatkara Vaibhavam are major festivals celebrated here.
