Sri Maha Lakshmi Ammavari Devastanam Chittinagar,Fraserpeta,Vijayawada,Andhra Pradesh
Mahalakshamma Ammavari Devasthanam in Chittanagar has a history of 150 years and shelters people here as ‘Kothammavari’. On April 1, 1951, the first Kovela was built for this temple by the clansmen of Nagara. After that, this temple in Geewatha was built in the year 1974 by the Nagara who built the Ram Mandiram in Kottapet Brahmanveedhi and took over all these temples and took up development. At that time, Chittanagar was a suburb of Bejwada and was a maze. There was also a toll gate here during the British rule. But at that time, when smallpox, cholera and plague were prevalent in this region, these goddesses who appeared here were measured to protect them. In that way, after this mother gave independence to the patients, they started measuring her as a mother who fulfills their desires and difficulties and as a ‘new mother’.
In 1996, this Kothammavari temple, which was under construction, was re-consecrated by the Municipal Corporation. In this temple which is known as Sree Nagarala Sitarama Swamy Sree Mahalakshmamma Devasthanam, Goddess Mahalakshmi along with Ganganamma and Mutyalamma on both sides visit the devotees in the form of idols. Prabhas and processions are held here during many special festivals. Special pujas are performed on Shravan Fridays and Tuesdays. Under the auspices of this devasthanam, a marriage hall is also built and available according to the needs of the people here.
In the year 2011, under the auspices of the city association, the temple was also built in the southern part of this temple along with Sripadmavathi Godadevi Venkateswara Swamy Varla. Venteshwar makes a special appearance with a tall flagpole.
