Shiridi, known for its Shiridi Sai temple, is also the home for a temple devoted to Panchamukha Vishnu Ganapati.
The temple, being run by the Gyana Sai Kendram Trust(Hyderabad), is located on Old Nasik Road, 2 km away from the Shiridi Sai shrine.
It depicts Lord Ganesh, having five faces, seated on serpent Adiseshu, which represents Kundalini Sakti. In fact, Serpent Adiseshu is the seat of Lord Vishnu. Here, Srilakshmi, possessing the combined power of Lord Vinayaka’s consorts Siddi and Buddi, is seen seated on the left thingh of Mahavishnu. Thus, with the forms of Heramba Ganapathi and Laxmi Ganapathiy combined, Lord Ganesh here .
The temple has a nice idol of Panchamukha Vishnu Ganapati. The monolithic black granite 7.5 feet tall idol, weighing three and half tons, was sculptor N.T. Thambi at Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu.
According to famous Nadi astrologer Subramanian of Coimbatore, Panchamukha Vishnu Ganapati blesses devotees as the kshetrapalaka of Shiridi.
Devotees whisper their wishes in the ears of Lord Ganesha’s vehicle, the mouse. Belief is that their wish is fulfilled within 40 days. Women whisper their wishes in the mouse’s left ear and males in its right ear.
Worshiping Panchamukha Ganapati will help a devotee to attain Anandamaya Kosha, or Sat-Chit-Ananda, the Pure Consciousness. It is believed that placing Panchamukha Vinayaka towards east in one’s home or office would help to ward of evils and bring prosperity.
Shri Panchamukha Vishnu Ganpatiji Shirdi darshan is very aurpicious. This temple according to Sai babas order was conscreated by Shri Gyan Sai Kendra Trust Hyderabad. The protector of Shirdi is Mahavishnu, first puja is conducted for Lord Ganpati. Therefore people visiting Shirdi first darshan is for Ganpati and Mahavishnu which is known as Panchmukhi Vishnu Ganpati. Therefore first darshan one needs to do is for Ganpati and then sai baba.This Ganpati is in the form of Vishnu which has Shankum or Conch in left hand and Chakra in the right hand with Goddess Laxmi sitting on the hand. These are 3 attributes of lord Vishnu.Lord Ganesha is sitting in the posture of aadishesh. That is the reason the temple is named as Panchmukhi Ganpati.
The five attributes of Panchmukhi are Fire,water,air, earth and sky . This avtar is a special avtar after the end of kalyug. People come to Shirdi with loads of wishes and visit Sai baba Samadhi for their fulfillment. Out of which one of the wishes is fulfilled by wish fulfilling Ganpati. If you have any wishes you can first visit Panchmukhi Vishnu Ganpati or Ganesha and speak in the ears of the mouse, females can speak in the left ear and males can speak in the right ear and keep their wishes to themselves for 40 days and it is said the wishes come true / FUlfilled and one need to visit the Wish Fulfilling Panchmukhi VIshnu Ganpathi temple Shirdi again for thanksgiving.
Panchmukhi Ganapathi (Five Head Ganapathi)
Panchmukhi Ganapathi is a representation of Lord Ganesh with five faces. “Panch” literally means “Five” and “Mukhi” means “Faced”. Each of the faces of Panchamukha Ganapathi faces a different direction and hence the name. Panchamukha Ganapathi is regarded as an embodiment of all potencies. Each head of panchamukhi Ganapathi symbolizes the Pancha Koshas or five sheaths in the subtle anatomy of human beings. They are the Annamaya, Pranamaya, Manomaya, Vijnanamaya, and Anandamaya.
1) Annamaya Kosha – This is the food sheath and corresponds roughly to the physical body.
2) Pranamaya Kosha – This is the vital energy and it represents the subtle body, nadis, chakras and kundalini.
3) Manomaya Kosha – This is the mental sheath which represents the mind and the organs of perception
4) Vijnanamaya Kosha – This is the wisdom sheath which represents vijnana, or intellect, the talent which discriminates, determines or wills
5) Anandamaya Kosha – This is the cosmic bless sheath and represents the eternal center of consciousness.
