Sri Sri Agni Baneswar Devalaya Sarmojuli Pam,Assam

On the way to Hajo from Guwahati about 15km, there is the ancient Agnibareswar temple. This ‘Agni Pahar’ is popularly known as Agiathuri. Ganesh temple is famous for all travellers passing by the road. Very few people are aware of the Shiva temple inside the road about one KM. The temple was probably made by King Banasur in the period of Narakasura. The stone image of God Siva was worshipped by the indigenous people even before the advent of the Aryans.
There is a large campus a Shiva temple, Hall, rooms for priest and a large tank opposite. Priest comes only during the day time. The main festivals of this devalaya are Sivaratri and Doul Utsava. On Sivaratri, non-vegetarian offerings are also made.
