Sri Tungnath Shiva Temple Punjab
Great Shiv Mandir, in Urban estate phase 1 patiala punjab,. The royal king of Patiala Maharaja Narinder Singh went to Haridwar, Rishikesh and Badrinath in 1852 (Samant 1909). It is believed that on return to Patiala he came with the maps of buildings and on the basis of these maps he got constructed temples on Rajpura Road. The King got constructed these temples for the Convenience of his people who want to visit these places but couldn’t afford. He constructed Shri Tung Nath Mandir on same pattern as Shri Tung Nath Mandir in Uttrakhand. He gave one Water Well and a piece of land of Village Babanpur, Sherpur to Shri Tung Nath Mandir. He also appointed a Priest for the Temple. The Walls and Dome of the temple is decorated with wonderful wall art paintings. These wall art paintings are related to “Vashnav Sect”. These paintings are beautifying the temple till today and are made by “Pahari ” Painters. This Temple is located on Patiala-Rajpura Road.Everyday many devotees come to the temple to offer prayers.
