Sthanarehswar/Sthavareshwar Mahadev (50/84) Kamri Marg, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
This temple is famous by the name of Shani Mandir in Naipeth-Bambakhana area famous for the highly concentrated textile trade of the city. In the sanctum sanctorum of about 50 square feet, a 10 inch high Stavareshwar Linga decorated with the shape of a snake is installed in the middle of a two and a half feet wide brass water vessel. The figures of sun and moon are engraved on the water bearer.
In this sanctum, all the nine planets including Saturn, Mars, Jupiter are also worshiped in the form of Linga. The floor of the sanctum sanctorum is studded with black and white tiles while the walls are studded with dark black tiles. There are idols of Ganesha and Parvati here, not of Kartikeya. Outside, a brown Nandi is seated on a 2 feet high pedestal. This place is identified by the name of Shani Temple.
Mahadev told Parvati the story of the birth of Shanaishchar from the shadowy idol created by Surya’s wife Sangya. Indra, frightened by Shanaishchar, asked the creator to pierce the Rohini Chakra through Shanishchar, then the creator asked Surya to control Saturn.
Brahma went to Sri Hari with fear in his heart, and he also got scared after hearing the story of Shani. Sri Hari sent for Shani. Then when Maheshwar asked him about causing trouble to the world, he asked for water, food and place. Maheshwar gave some zodiac signs to Saturn to satisfy him and blessed him to be the most worshiped among all the planets.
Your movement will be constant, hence you will be called stable. Your complexion will be like the Gandsthal of the yard or my throat. You will be short-sighted and slow-moving. You will die immediately if you are in a happy state or evil state. Then Maheshwar sent Shanaishchar to Mahakalvan and there a special Linga would be famous by the name Sthavareshwar. This will make you famous in the world.
One who sees and worships this Linga on Saturday will not suffer the pain caused by Saturn. Those who will devoutly visit Sthareshwar during Sankranti, Saturday, Vyatipat and Ayanakal, will get an eternal place in heaven.
