Story of Ganesh ji’s marriage

Share

With whom did Ganesh ji get married and how did he get married and what obstacles did he face in his marriage?

Lord Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, is worshiped before all the gods. He is worshiped before doing every auspicious work.

Lord Ganesha is also known as Ganapati because he is the god of Ganas and his vehicle is a mouse.

In astrological science, Ganesha has been called the god of Ketu. The body of Lord Ganesha was created by Mother Parvati.
At that time his face was normal, exactly like that of any human being.

Once upon a time, Mother Parvati ordered Ganesha to guard the house because Mother Parvati was going to bathe. Ganesh ji got orders that till the time Goddess Parvati was taking bath, no one should come inside the house.

Then Lord Shankar came to the door and Ganesha refused to let him enter his own house, due to which Lord Shiva beheaded Ganesha. Mother Parvati became sad after seeing Ganesha like this. Then Shiva, to relieve Parvati’s sorrow, brought Ganesha back to life and placed an elephant’s head on his torso – and gave him the boon of being the first worshipper.

Do you know the reason why Ganesh ji was not able to get married: Ganesh ji also had two tusks – which enhanced the beauty of his elephant head. But due to the fight with Parashuram, one of Ganesha’s teeth was broken. Since then they are called Ekadanta. Due to these two reasons, Ganesh ji was not able to get married.

No polite girl was ready to marry him. The first reason was that his head was like that of an elephant and the second reason was that he had one tusk. This is why Lord Ganesha remained angry.
Whenever Ganesha went to the marriage of any other deity, his heart was deeply hurt. He felt that if he was not able to get married then how could he allow someone else to get married. So he started creating obstacles in the marriages of other gods. Ganesh ji was assisted in this work by his vehicle Mushak. That mouse, following the orders of Lord Ganesha, used to destroy the marriage hall, which hindered the marriage ceremony.

Due to the collusion of Lord Ganesha and the mouse, all the gods became upset and started telling their tale to Lord Shiva. But even Lord Shiva did not have a solution to this problem. So Shiva-Parvati told them: Brahma ji can solve this problem. Hearing this, all the gods went to Brahmaji, when Brahmaji was engrossed in yoga. After some time, two girls, Riddhi and Siddhi, appeared through yoga to appease the gods. Both were mental daughters of Brahmaji.

Brahmaji came to Ganeshji with both the daughters and said: You have to teach them. Ganeshji agreed to teach. Whenever information about someone’s marriage came to Ganesh ji through a rat, Riddhi and Siddhi would stir up some incident to divert his attention.

By doing this every marriage was completed without any hindrance. But one day Ganesh ji understood everything – when his vehicle Mushak told him about the completion of the marriage of the gods without any hindrance.

Before Ganesh ji could get angry, Brahma ji appeared in front of him – with “Riddhi Siddhi” – and started saying – I am not finding any suitable groom for her! Please marry them! In this way, Ganesh ji got married with great pomp and show to Riddhi and Siddhi – and after this he was blessed with two sons – whose names were – “Shubh and Labh”.
