Story of Krishna and the Potter.
Once upon a time, Yashoda Maiya got fed up with the rebuke of Lord Shri Krishna and ran towards Shri Krishna with a stick. When the Lord saw his mother in anger, he started running to protect himself. While running, Shri Krishna reached a potter. The potter was busy making his clay pots. But as soon as the potter saw Shri Krishna, he became very happy. The potter knew that Shri Krishna was the real God. Then the Lord said to the potter, ‘Kumharji, today my mother is very angry with me. Mother is coming after me with a stick. Brother, hide me somewhere. ‘ Then the potter hid Shri Krishna under a big pot. Within a few moments Mother Yashoda also came there and started asking the potter – ‘Why, Potter! Have you seen my Kanhaiya anywhere? The potter said- ‘No, mother! I did not see Kanhaiya. Shri Krishna was listening to all these things hiding under a big pitcher. Mother left from there. Now Lord Shri Krishna says to the potter – ‘Potter, if mother has gone, then take me out of this pot.’
The potter said – ‘Not like that, Lord! First promise to free me from the bondage of eighty-four lakh species. God smiled and said- ‘Okay, I promise to free you from eighty-four lakh births. Now throw me out. ‘The potter started saying – The potter started saying – ‘I am not alone, Lord! If you promise to free all the people of my family from the bondage of eighty-four lakh species, then I will take you out of this pot. Prabhu ji says- ‘Okay, I promise to free them from the bondage of eighty-four lakh births. Now take me out of the pot.
Now the potter says- ‘Enough, Lord! There is one more request. If you promise to complete that too, I will throw you out of the pot. God said- ‘Tell me that also, what do you want to say?’ The potter started saying- ‘Lord! The soil of the pot under which you are hiding has been loaded on my oxen. Promise to free these bulls of mine from the bondage of Chaurasi. ‘God was pleased with the potter’s love and promised to free those bulls also from the bondage of Chaurasi.’
The Lord said – ‘Now all your wishes have been fulfilled, now take me out of the pot.’
Then the potter says- ‘Not now, Lord! Just one more last wish. Complete that also and that is – any living being who listens to this conversation between us, you will also free him from the bondage of eighty-four lakh births. Just give me this promise and I will get you out of this pot.
Lord Shri Krishna became very happy after listening to the potter’s loving words and promised to fulfill the potter’s wish also.
Then the potter took child Shri Krishna out of the pot. Prostrated at his feet. Washed Lord’s feet and drank Charanamrit. He sprinkled Charanamrit all over his hut and hugged the Lord and cried so much that he merged into the Lord.
Just think, if child Shri Krishna could lift the seven kos long Govardhan mountain on his two fingers, then couldn’t he lift a pitcher? But not without love, Natwar Nand Kishore. No matter how many sacrifices one performs, No matter how much one performs rituals, no matter how much charity one does, no matter how much devotion one does, one cannot meet Lord Shri Krishna unless one has love for all living beings in one’s heart. Long live Shri Krishna. Jai Shri Radhe Radhe.
