Tapeshwar Nath Mandir Bareilly

Share

Lord Shiva was pleased with the penance of saints in Bareilly, hence the name Tapeshwarnath

Shri Tapeshwarnath Temple located in Subhashnagar is one of the ancient temples of Nath Nagari Bareilly. It is believed that here many sages had pleased Lord Bholenath by performing rigorous penance. Pleased with his penance, Lord Shiva called him Tapeshwarnath.

Lakhandas Baba, the abbot of the temple, told that a disciple of Dhrum Rishi had performed penance here for hundreds of years. Seeing their devotion, Lord Shiva sat here and since then the temple became famous by the name of Tapeshwarnath. Told that where Lord Shankar’s Shivalinga is located, earlier there used to be a cave, in which a Baba lived and meditated for 400 years. He had hair like a bear all over his body.

That’s why people used to call him Bhalu Das Baba. Apart from this, Baba Munishwar Das and Ram Tahal Das had also pleased Bholenath by performing penance. Years ago, Ganga used to flow near the temple due to which the soil here is still sandy. Which is proof of this. Manhat says that worshiping mother cow in the cowshed built in the temple premises leads to the birth of a child.

Told the importance of Guru

The program of Guru Purnima festival at Gayatri Shaktipeeth Amla ended on Saturday. During this, philosopher Dr. Vineet Vidharthi said that Guru is a protector like Brahma. He is nourishing like Vishnu and destroys hypocrisy like Shiva. By getting the company of a Guru, even an illiterate person becomes comfortable. Whoever takes refuge in a Guru becomes blissful.
