Tapkeshwar Tirth Dham in Neemkathana town of Sikar district of Rajasthan has long been a center of wonder along with faith. According to belief, the ancient name of Tapkeshwar is Anchaleshwar Mahadev. Which is also mentioned in Shivpuran. The special thing about the temple is that in the month of Sawan, when the clouds rain drops, the anointment on the Shivalinga present in the cave starts happening automatically. Which the local people call the consecration of Shiva by Lord Indra in Sawan. This natural feature is also the reason for naming the temple Tapkeshwar. Krishnavati (Kasavati) river flows during the rains between the two hills of Tapkeshwar Mahadev, which was earlier twelve Masi.

The cave is endless, relation to Mahabharata
There is a cave here called Endless. In which even the antiquity of the Shiva idols installed has not been known yet. It is said that this cave and temple belongs to the Mahabharata period. When Pandavas were in unknown abode, they used to come to this temple for worship through this cave. According to Mahabharata, Pandavas spent their unknown abode in Viratnagar (Bairath). Which is about 60 km from Tapkeshwar Dham in Alwar. Therefore, it is said that Bhima created this cave by digging the mountain with his mace and through the same route he used to come to Tapkeshwar Shiva temple for worship. It is also said that Pandavas spent some time in exile in these hills.

Raila is held during Shivratri and Sawan
A rally of devotees is organized in Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple on Mahashivratri and in the month of Sawan. Devotees from far away places come to see Tapkeshwar Mahadev. In the month of Sawan, the natural beauty near the temple is also worth seeing.
