Taragarhi Shiv Mandir/Taragarhi Ganesh Mandir, Depalsar Churu Rajasthan

Share

Depalsar village is situated at a distance of about five km from Churu city. Here is the 300 year old Taragarhi Ganesh temple. A crowd of hundreds of devotees gather every day. The special thing is that in the temple, son Ganesh is sitting at the feet of Baba Shiva. An ancient Shivalinga is installed at the top of the temple. Gajanana is seated in the sanctum sanctorum just below this.

Apart from this, statues of Maa Jeen Bhavani and Hanuman ji are present in the temple. Princess Taramani of Jodhpur saw Ganapati in her dream. Apart from this, the place of Baba Ki Bani present here was visible. She came here from Jodhpur. Took information about the place where Baba lived from the then Jagirdar of this place. After this, excavation of an earthen mound about 70 feet high was started. During this time the idol of Ganapati appeared. Later a temple was built and the idol was installed. The name of the temple Taragarhi became popular after the name of Princess Taramani.

After the construction of the temple, Prince Taramani did not go back to Jodhpur. It was here that she became engrossed in penance. His brother Shyam Singh also came here from Jodhpur. After the departure of both the brothers and sisters to heaven, their mausoleum was built here. Which are still present in the temple.

This is the only temple in the state, where Lord Lambodar is seated in the south. He told that after the construction of the temple, the face of the idol was turned towards east thrice. But, the face of the idol automatically turned towards south. Since then till now the face has been towards the south.

A fair is held in the temple twice a year. The first fair is held on the day of Mahashivratri and the second on Ganesh Chaturthi. Devotees from dozens of villages of the state including Bikaner, Nagaur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar and Churu city come with wishes to Lord Ganesha.
